Medvedchuk freed prisoners without Zelensky
The leader of one of the leading Ukrainian parties, "The Opposition Platform for Life", Viktor Medvedchuk held talks with the heads of the DPR and the LPR Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik. Following the meeting, he managed to secure the release of four Ukrainians as a gesture of goodwill from the leaders of the republics.
According to preliminary data, the release should take place 28 June on Friday. Medvedchuk hopes that this step will be "a serious signal for the current government," showing that Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics are ready for peaceful steps. The head of the “Opposition Platform” also hopes that Kiev and the Donbass will be able to establish an exchange of prisoners.
Zelensky did not know
The peculiarity of the current talks was that, according to Medvedchuk, the office of the president (replacing the Presidential Administration of Ukraine) did not take part in them.

The landmark meeting was held in Minsk. Commenting on it, Viktor Mezhvedchuk noted that his communication with the leaders of Donbass took place primarily because the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, “does nothing” to free the prisoners.
- emphasized Medvedchuk, noting that half a year has passed since the last release of prisoners.
The politician noted that thanks to the rotation of the composition of the Rada, he hopes to establish peace in the Donbas. In particular, Viktor Medvedchuk noted that in addition to the exchange of prisoners with the leaders of the DPR and the LPR, the subject of the Minsk agreements was discussed.
In turn, the leader of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, said that, in his opinion, the Opposition Platform - For Life party "demonstrates readiness for concrete actions to resolve the conflict in the Donbass peacefully."
“If politicians thought about their citizens, this conflict was already in a different phase.
- summed up the negotiations the head of the DPR.
Viktor Medvedchuk is considered in Kiev "the informal ambassador of Russia to Ukraine", primarily because of his friendly relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He has repeatedly participated in the peace process, including the negotiations on the Donbas in Minsk.
Kiev refused to negotiate the sailors
It is worth noting that earlier Moscow also offered Kiev to meet halfway the fate of the 24 Ukrainian sailors who were detained during the incident in the Kerch Strait. According to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, this step came across a sharp refusal by the Kiev authorities, although Vladimir Zelensky himself touched on this topic and even made an appeal in Russian about the need to "return sons to mothers."
- commented on the absurdity of the situation Zakharova on his page on Facebook.
