Ukrainian church again split and abolished Tomos
The Orthodox Church in Ukraine has split again. Filaret, before the formation of the Local Orthodox Church of Ukraine (PCU) under the auspices of Constantinople, who was the head of the non-canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate, announced the restoration of the latter.
The Orthodox Church of Ukraine has split the honorary patriarch
The CCU, which received the Tomos from the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople to create a local church, and made Filaret an honorary patriarch, attempted to prevent the schismatics from holding their own council. In particular, a forum was announced, the presence of which was obligatory for the episcopate: in this way, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine tried to prevent the presence of high church officials at the event of Philaret.
In addition, the CCA made a statement that the “local council” of Filaret is non-statutory. It was noted that the consequences would be both canonical and legal. The fact that the Orthodox Church of Ukraine appeared due to the unifying council convened by the non-canonical patriarch doesn’t give Filaret the right to change his mind to cancel his decision, in the opinion of the CCU.
.
Filaret recently actively opposed Tomos, issued by Constantinople. The document, on the one hand creating a local church, severely limited its rights. In particular, the new structure was deprived of its extremely important parishes abroad (there were many of them in rich America and Canada): they passed under the auspices of the Greeks. In addition, it was headed not by the patriarch, but by the metropolitan.
Poroshenko accused of cheating
Shortly before the rebellious honorary patriarch of the CPU, she announced her official head of Epiphanius and the former President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, in deception.
Following the results of the local council, Filaret clearly indicated his position: the Tomos issued to Ukraine did not correspond to the status of autocephalous churches. Its provisions make Ukraine extremely dependent on the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The decision of the schismatic council restores the status of the non-canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate. In addition, the UOC-KP is declared the sole owner of all funds in the accounts. The management of its former temples and monasteries also returns to the restored structure, as well as foreign paraffin.
- states in the 8 paragraph of the two-page document adopted at the end of the council held by Filaret. The church outlined all its decisions in paragraphs 10.
