In Germany, launched a third submarine for the Egyptian Navy

Egypt continues to strengthen the underwater component of its Navy. In the near future, the Egyptian submariners will receive a third German-built submarine, which was launched on the German shipbuilding plant thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) in Kiel, the bmpd blog reports.
The 3 of this year's May in Kiel (Germany) hosted the solemn ceremony of launching the third diesel-electric submarine of the 209 / 1400Mod project under construction in Egypt, which received the designation S 43. Submarine in the near future will be released on sea trials and according to the plans of manufacturers will be introduced into the Egyptian Navy by the beginning of 2020.
An agreement between Egypt and Germany on the construction of two submarines of the 209 / 1400Mod project with an option for another two was signed in 2011 year. The first submarine S 41 was launched on December 10 2015 of the year, transferred to Egypt in December 2016 of the year and arrived in Alexandria 19 on April 2017 of the year. The second boat S 42 was launched in Kiel 5 December 2016 of the year. The Egyptian Navy received its 8 August 2017, the boat arrived in Egypt 18 October 2017.
The option for two additional submarines was realized only in 2015 year. The parties agreed to build two more submarines of this project with the end of construction of the entire series by the 2021 year.
Egyptian submarines project 209 / 1400Mod equipped with a traditional diesel-electric power plant. The main armament is ordered by the German company Atlas Elektronik 533-mm torpedoes DM2A4 / SeaHake mod 4 and American anti-ship missiles Boeing UGM-84 Harpoon Block II.
