The PrSM project calls into question the anti-missile potential of the Russian Navy. The last word for "Redoubt"
It is for this reason that the Pentagon, along with the allocation of colossal allocations for the development and deployment of F / A-18-E / F fighter planes into ammunition kits, of subtle ultra-long range AGM-158C LRASM also bets on designing not only the standard (ground-to-ground) class ), but also of the anti-ship variant of the tactical ballistic missile PrSM (“Precision Strike Missile”), also known in the Western media under the acronym “Deep Strike” (“Deep Strike”). Colonel John Rafferty told about the beginning of work on this modification of the OTBR PrSM in an interview with 27 Defense News journalists in March 2019 on the eve of the opening of the Association of the global military symposium of the US Armed Forces in Huntsville (Alabama).
It should be noted that to create an anti-ship version of Deep Strike, the standard PrSM rocket, originally developed by Raytheon Advanced Missile Systems (with the support of Lockheed Martin) as part of the ambitious Long-Range Precision Fire program and the upcoming replacement of obsolete OTBR The MGM-140 / 164B (ATACMS Block IA / IIA) families should receive a fundamentally different architecture of the guidance system, ensuring the destruction of not only highly protected stationary objects, but also mobile surface targets (missile boats, frigates, destroyers, etc.) with minimal circular ver yatnym deviation. In particular, in addition to the standard stitched inertial navigation system (SINS) based on solid-state semiconductor gyroscopes and semiconductor accelerometers, as well as a GPS module, the new PrSM version can be equipped with:
- a two-way asynchronous data line terminal via a secure radio communications channel (for obtaining additional target designation from AWACS airborne warning radars, as well as radar and radio reconnaissance equipment of Poseidon long-range anti-aircraft P-8A and Triton MQ-4C UAV);
- optoelectronic correlation homing head (by analogy with the GN 9E436, developed at the beginning of 2000-x. TsNIIAG JSC to equip the Volga tactical ballistic missiles and adapted for integration into the OTBR guidance system 9X723-1 “Iskandan” M ”) for detecting and“ capturing ”enemy surface ships from reference images of silhouettes in TV / IR / low-level TV channels, in the case of intensive counter-resistance;
- passive or passive-active radar homing head for “capturing” surface ships with both turned on and off radar detectors and multifunctional radars (passive-active HOS of WGU-48 / B anti-radar missiles AGM-88E / G AARGM / has this principle of operation) -ER)
An assessment of the ability of the anti-ship modification “Deep Strike” to break through the “anti-missile barriers” formed by our ship-based air defense systems “Shtil-1”, “Redut” and “More” will be much more relevant and partly preventive step, especially in the context of the daily expansion of the spectrum of threats in theaters of military operations. Pantsir-M ". Despite the fact that the prospective anti-ship modification “Deep Strike” will have the case diameter of 0,34 — 0,35 meter (we made this conclusion based on a sketch posted on the asc.army.mil portal), which, combined with the wide use of composite materials, will reduce effective reflective surface products with 0,2 — 0,3 square. m (ATACMS) to 0,05 — 0,1 square. m, the range of its detection by 5P27 Furke and Polymers MRLS (included in the radar "equipment" of the 22350 / M Avenue frigates) will be from 50 to 70 km, which gives the 30 — 45 s detection system for detecting , "Start of the tracks" and the capture of "Deep Strike", moving at a speed of 4,5 — 6M. A similar range of direction finding of PrSM missiles will also be possessed by the Fregat-M2EM radar detectors placed on frigates of the "Admiral Series" (11356 Ave.).
Meanwhile, the possibility of intercepting “Deep Strike” by means of the Stil-1 air defense missile system cannot be said, because, first, the terminal section of the downward branch of the trajectory of these ballistic missiles has angles of the order of 75 — 85 degrees, which significantly exceed the elevation angles of the radar beams “ Frigate-МХNUMXЭ ”and light stations MP-2“ Nut ”(not more than 90 degrees). Secondly, regular 60М9 anti-aircraft guided missiles equipped with semi-active radar 317E9 radar systems are unable to continue intercepting the ballistic target after it goes beyond the Orekh MR-420 sector, while the final information on the adoption of the Navy of Russia advanced 90M9MA with active RSGS 317Б-9М is missing (in the summer of 1103, Russian media included information about the slip of tests of this missile onboard the Admiral Makarov frigate).
Thirdly, Deep Strike's ability to perform high-intensity anti-oil maneuvers with overloads of more than 25 — 30 units. partially retards the maneuverability of missiles 9М317 family (including "MA") even taking into account the presence of the thrust vector deviation of the gas-jet system in the latter. This is especially clearly seen after the burning of these solid-fuel gas generator anti-aircraft missiles, when the OWT system ceases to perform its main function. As a result, even the Shtil-9 complex equipped with the upgraded 317М1MA interceptor missiles has a chance to intercept the maneuvering Deep Strike only at the stage of operation of a dual-mode solid-propellant anti-aircraft missile. Conclusion: the only Russian shipboard air defense systems capable of withstanding the anti-ship modification of the OTBR PrSM (“Deep Strike”) are the Redut special-action missile defense complex and the Pantsir-M anti-aircraft missile-gun complex.
Redut will be able to destroy Deep Strikes due to the unique maneuvering qualities of the 9М96DM anti-aircraft missiles, provided by the presence of transverse control gas-dynamic engines, as well as through the use of active radar targeting, which fully compensates for the presence of a "dead funnel" (cone-shaped airspace) “Not viewed” by the radar detection and guidance shipboard SAMs). Pantsir-M / Mace is also able to process the Deep Strike approaching at a sheer angle due to the most important constructive advantage - the elevation viewing area of the standalone optical post (opto-electronic module) from -5 to + 82 degrees; but the probability of hitting will be noticeably lower than that of Redut, since the 57E6 SAM does not have additional gas-dynamic control systems and has the maximum overload only in 32G.
The complexity of the whole situation lies in the fact that currently the full version of the Redoubt system (as part of the Sigma-22350 combat information and control system with the Polymen ICLS and the 5P27 Fourrke detector) has only a part of the Northern of the Russian Navy frigate Admiral Gorshkov Ave. 22350, while the 20380 / 85 project corvettes have a “truncated” modification of Polyment, which is targeted by the Furke-2 radar with a lower energy potential and worse noise immunity. The surface component of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy, operating on the most rocket-dangerous south-western strategic direction, does not even have a single warship with the Redoubt on board.
