The theme of the war crimes committed by the Nazis during World War II is extremely deep. One of the areas of discussion is how the Nazis ruled in occupied France, the kind of help the Gestapo provided to the French collaborators.
In his next documentary, TV journalist Leonid Mlechin talks about a man like Klaus Barbie. This is a person (if this word is used in this case), who joined the SS in the autumn of 1935. In 1940, Barbie was sent to serve in The Hague, which by that time was already under the Nazi occupation boot. In 1942, Klaus Barbie was appointed head of the Gestapo in French Lyon.
Because of his truly brutal attitude towards the imprisoned "enemies of the Fuhrer," he earned the nickname "The Lyon Butcher." And this nickname for years stuck to one of the war criminals of the Third Reich.
Barbie's main task was to suppress the underground resistance structures. The real hunt for the anti-Hitler underground in Lyon forced the main body of anti-fascists to move to Paris.
About why in Paris they feel even safer, as well as about the atrocities of Barbie and his result will tell the movie Mlechin on TV Center.
