Is it true that journalism is dying

26
When all news learned from the newspaper "Pravda", then questions to the journalistic profession did not arise. Today, questions arise. Or did they arise then too?

Today, especially - even those people who have become attached to the informational tape, in the hearts of the reporters for the lack of professionalism, the illiteracy, the incompetence, the arrogance, the reluctance to check the sources of information. Often there is a blame for anything. But criticism often also appears for the sake of criticism, as if everything is different in other professional environments.

A well-known TV presenter, documentary master Leonid Mlechin offers his analysis of the problems of the journalistic profession. One of the problems that Mlechin describes is the problem of trust and distrust. This problem is also connected with the publication of fake news, which, due to the wide use of the Internet and the abundance of mass media, can spread like an avalanche.

According to Mlechin, the journalistic profession is today in a critical condition, and many have a feeling that journalism is dying.

In the same journalistic community, many are ready to argue with Mlechin: and what is the state of journalism in our country when the main program channel in the final program poured solid dirt on individual people (for example, one well-known mayor, now former)? What was the state of journalism, when the main news of the broadcast were reports from the fields, and political reviews did not go further than the stories about the presentation of the next order to the Secretary General?

A moot point. There is an opportunity to discuss it after watching the video:

Uh-huh, they didn't scold before, and the anecdote "There is no truth in Izvestia, but there is no news in Pravda" is a myth. And Jack London's books were not sold in the USSR:
“You can write any dirty trick,” he said. - In the river, I saw things fearless than the dirty lies of your newspapers. And I guys don’t blame you ... that is, I don’t really blame you. What do you have to do? You have to live. There are a lot of women in the world who, like you, are sold for a piece of bread, because they know nothing else. Someone has to do the dirty work. You get paid for it, but looking for a job cleaner - you don’t have enough gunpowder for this.

This, by the way, is primarily about people like Mlechin ...

And the books of Jack London in the USSR did not sell:

Come on, one of the most published in the USSR was foreign writers. From Wiki
Jack London was the second foreign publisher after H.K. Andersen in the USSR for 1918-1986: the total circulation of 956 publications amounted to 77,153 million copies

Book Collected Works in 12 Volumes Jack London - Pravda Publishing House 1976.

      And what is Mlechin ?:

      Or this one ?:

YouTube is full of Mlechin's videos, there would be a desire to look, and not speak without understanding, like: 'I have not read, but I condemn'.

Well, if for the author, mlechin is the measure of something, then of course ...
Cry about not worth it. Contact journalists and urge them to stop lying openly, well, or at least to study what they write about.

Who feeds the girl, he dances her. In my opinion, the journalist and honesty are incompatible concepts, even in coverage of children's morning performances.

People are annoyed by such work of journalists, when they give their "professional" assessment to the obvious facts and clear footage of events, passing it off as a true, only correct opinion ... A vivid example of this is bravado and jubilation over the adoption of the pension reform.
Sorry, but this is not journalism, but naked propaganda.
Journalist and propagandist are two different concepts and vocations.
    Journalist is:
And that the miner gave the record,
That the pilot climbed above the stars
The reporter will tell everyone before,
From the bottom to the sky building a bridge.
He listened to a blizzard with a radio operator at night,
Milestones in the field of measurements with the agronomist
He was a brother, friend and friend
People on the eve of strangers.

Walk for three days, do not sleep for three days
For the sake of a few lines in a newspaper:
If you start again, I would choose again
    These endless chores.

About Journalism, our Classic very accurately and succinctly said back in the 18th century:
    Alive, living smoker!
    - How! Is the journalist still alive?
    - Zhivekhonek! still dry and dull
And rude, and stupid, and envy tormented,
Everything is squeezed into its indecent sheet
And old nonsense and nonsense novelty.
    - Fu! tired of smoking room journalist!
How to extinguish a stinky dink?
How to kill my smoking room?
Give me advice. "Yes ... spit on him."

What a talented person - as much as 20 minutes about anything! Not everyone knows how ...

The main problems of journalism, one way or another, are directly or indirectly related to the capitalist system. The main principle in capitalism is personal enrichment. If a journalist is a principled person, then he is primarily engaged in personal enrichment. No, well, something is doing along the way, of course. Only here is what no one does.

    1. Sale. If personal enrichment, then who will pay the most, to that tune and dance. And it doesn’t matter - is it true or false.

    2. Competition. This means that the headline must be catchy - and it doesn't matter what it doesn't reflect, it doesn't matter what is false. For example (this is an abstract example): "Mlechin almost died!" We read - it turns out that Mlechin was told an anecdote, and he almost died of laughter.

    3. Incompetence. Education is paid - it means that universities and teachers themselves hold on to students. To expel for poor progress - God forbid! It's like killing a chicken laying golden eggs. So young and cheeky journalists appear, who, in fact, bought tests and exams and a diploma. Often they write with errors, and only check the information, and then double-check - it never even occurs to me.

That's what Mlechin should talk about, and not about the pleasure of laying hands on the disabled.

To the lies and distortion of facts was added the manner of presenting information that simply infuriates. No, not like that - it infuriates. Examples:
"Named there tarram of something there" - are you too lazy to put in the title a summary of what is named there? I stopped reading such articles.
"America / Russia in shock / panic / punished, etc." - not only is the title "yellow" not at all consistent with the article. I don't pay attention at all.
    Well, you understand ...
And even if you find an adequate title, the inadequacy begins in the article! The amount of information with a gulkin's nose, BUT ... How can you not swear? The first paragraph - infa in three words, the second paragraph - THE SAME infa, but already in 6 words, the third paragraph - the same, only 16 words diluted with "water", if you have reached 4 paragraphs (oh, hero!) - there is the same thing, but with the necessary and unnecessary details.
As a result, a news fact from one grammatically, stylistically, and other Russian-correct Russian language turned into a bunch that needs to be raked with a pitchfork.

Not a linguist, not a humanist, an ordinary techie, but how does it infuriate.

And what prevents reading Telegrams? By citation, telegram channels occupy the first place among all platforms:
'Blocked Telegram has become the most cited platform, overtaking Yandex and Mail.ru':
      http://www.cnews.ru/news/top/2019-03-14_zablokirovannyj_telegram_okazalsya_samoj_tsitiruemoj
Everything is in essence there: headers and posts (except of course some new, young ones who want to grab loot and get everything right away, right now)

Journalism is, in fact, "a type of public activity for the collection, processing and periodic dissemination of relevant (the question is, for whom - a customer or a consumer?) Information", which has been present in society since prehistoric times. Will be present also before the posthistoric ones.

So the question is not "dying", the question is in the attitude of society to the phenomenon. There were times when the requirements were stricter and there were even good journalists. Nowadays, the requirements are at the bazaar level - see program 1, where the srach is created artificially - through several cameras, and even info programs are not doing their own thing, like collecting money. It is believed that this is the "request" of society. As long as the society is silent about this, the level of "demand" will decrease. Well, the journalists, respectively.

And yes, a little more about society - while in public opinion - "opinion" prevails over logic, knowledge, facts, journalism will be like that - it is a reflection of society.

Journalism does not die. She is being killed. The journalists themselves are killing. They chase fried facts, stir up sensations, rummage in dirty linen, look under the covers, and participate in political "mochilov". Sold for money. Journalism is dying from the fact that the printed article is initially mistrusted, treated like a surprise mine. Journalism in our country was on the rise during the years of perestroika and a little bit in the early 90s. At that time, journalists worked with Soviet education and Soviet education. The moral code of a journalist was hammered into their subconscious, the rule is that it is bad to do a job, it is bad. The journalist realized that he was the POWER. He guides the souls of people in the direction of kindness and justice. Now journalism is BUSINESS, which means money and nothing personal. Or too much. Who likes what.

The problem is multifaceted and I did it at the beginning of this year, redirecting the budgets of my clients from print media and TV to YouTube and online marketing. The first is a big decline in the level of education and the appearance of completely illiterate journalists. The second, according to statistics, print and TV are dying all over the world and cannot be stopped. The third is the illiteracy and yellowness of the population, which is what the magazine answers, producing nonsense that has demand. Just pay attention to how many fans of flat land have increased in recent years ....
