According to the press service, the air assault regiment of the 76 Guards air assault division in Pskov received immediately a battalion set of new generation 39 and combat vehicles, which included the 31 unit BMD-4M and eight BTR-MDM "Rehearsal".
The ceremonial handing over of equipment took place in the regiment under the leadership of the Deputy Commander of the Airborne Forces for logistics, Major General Nariman Timergazin, who said that the equipment had arrived as part of the implementation of the state defense order.
According to the deputy commander, at present, five battalion sets BMD-4M and BTR-MDM are supplied and put into service in the Airborne Forces. During this year, two more will be delivered, which will allow to bring the percentage of modern weapons and equipment in the landing troops to 68%.
The Deputy Commander of the Airborne Forces stressed that the Airborne Forces will continue to play a significant role in the Russian military security system. They must be prepared to tackle new, multi-faceted tasks that are significantly different from those that they faced before 10-15 years ago.
Equipping the troops with modern equipment and controls contributes to improving the combat capabilities of the airborne units and reducing the time to bring them to combat readiness.
