A senior Kuwaiti officer said this at a reception organized by the Russian Embassy in Kuwait on the occasion of Defender of the Fatherland Day. According to him, the contract for the purchase of T-90MS / MSK tanks was postponed, but not terminated. Anwar Al Mazidi also welcomed cooperation between the Kuwaiti and Russian armed forces in various fields.
As previously reported, the corporation "Uralvagonzavod" planned in 2017 for the "completion of pre-contract work with the customer" 414 "(Kuwait) for the supply of 146 T-90MS / MSK tanks."
Thus, Kuwait was to become the first customer of the T-90MС / MСK tanks. A prototype tank was tested in Kuwait in the 2014 year.
According to unofficial information, the final conclusion of the contract was hampered by the intervention of the United States, which threatened to impose sanctions on Kuwait due to military-technical cooperation with Russia according to the American CAATSA Law on Counteracting America's Opportunities through Sanctions, adopted in 2017.
