Liquid brexit. How out of the EU made a mockery of Britain
Britain is becoming the most miserable country in the world. Wherever a citizen of the United Kingdom goes, everywhere there are those who pat him on the shoulder, sigh and wish to “stick there”.
Respect for the decision taken by the British in a referendum in 2016, was replaced by misunderstanding. Previously, everyone was sure that serious, reliable people were sitting in the Palace of Westminster, and the Americans and Europeans were listening to the opinion of the British parliamentarians. Now everyone sincerely wonders why politicians in London continue to deal with frivolous problems at such a difficult time for the country.
It is very likely that the image of the British as an educated and well-versed citizen will soon fade because of the political disgrace that has been happening for the third year already. Large companies seriously fear the impending brain drain. This will happen not only because good specialists of European origin will return to their countries (to the pleasure of Theresa May, obviously). Many talented Britons are also going to move to Europe, and their number will grow. What good is it to work in a country that causes economic damage to itself and considers it normal? How good is the work in a country that allows professionals to continue to work for its benefit rather than invite them?
Many experts sought to build a career in the UK, considering it a world leader in finance and admiring her ability to cope with any economic crisis. Now it seems that everything has become exactly the opposite. Germany will be a haven for all talented entrepreneurs from Britain. Cultural figures will come to the Netherlands. In Lisbon, technology will begin to develop more actively thanks to British brains. It used to be said that people go to France to rest, and to the UK - to work. Well, this is no longer the case.
Brexit has already seriously overshadowed the United Kingdom brand. The idea that London does not cost anything to abandon the European market and political influence in Europe was the product of ideological extremism. Moreover, the negative view on Brexit is popular not only outside the UK, but also within the country.
Something similar has already happened. In the 70s, Britain was already a joke: a backward economy, terrible working conditions, incessant strikes - all this was called the "British disease". The country really wanted to catch up with European leaders, and this was its main motive for joining the European Economic Union.
European countries seemed different to the fairy world, and trips there cost a lot of money. 1939 to 1990 the population of London decreased by a quarter: people were looking for a better life in other countries of the Old World. But over time, London has developed a reputation, and the flow of migration has turned in the other direction. Britain's popularity reached its peak at the end of 90 and during the London Olympics in 2012.
It will take a long time for the UK to get rid of the label of a “mediocre country”. This can happen in ten years, and can only happen when a generation changes. History He does not know the examples when politicians corrected their own mistakes - for them it always has to be done by someone else.
