Ukrainian armored troopers violated the state border of the Russian Federation
According to the information, two artillery armored boats and a raid tug of the Ukrainian Navy entered the closed zone around 7 in the morning. It is noted that they violated two articles of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, according to which the coastal state is responsible for security in the water area.
The press service explained that in Kerch, the berthing and movement of ships were allowed in accordance with the schedule approved by the captain of the Russian port. The Ukrainian side did not apply for the passage of warships in the Kerch Strait, and these schedules are not included.
According to the border guards, the ships are dangerously maneuvering and do not obey the lawful demands of the Russian side.
Ukraine has already commented on the incident, accusing Russia of provocation.
According to the representative of the Naval Forces of Ukraine, two armored artillery boats, accompanied by a raid tug, were moving from Odessa to the port of Mariupol. The intention to make the transition was announced in advance in accordance with international law, the press service added. The Russian side denies the fact of any announcement from the Ukrainian side.
However, the Russian border guard ships PSCR Don, the Mongoose, the Suzdalets IPC and the Sobol type boats launched “frankly aggressive actions,” the report said.
The aforementioned Ukrainian tug has paid for actions that violate the norms of navigation.
It is reported that the raid tug was “rammed” by the PSRC “Don”, and as a result, the main engine of the tug, its plating and guard rail were damaged, in addition, the liferaft was lost. At least this is what was announced in the Ukrainian Navy.
Recall, on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation warned Kiev against attempts to revise the status of the Sea of Azov as the inland waters of two states that are contrary to international standards. Russian diplomats stressed that responsibility for possible consequences falls entirely on Ukraine and its supporting allies.
