Trump stepped on Erdogan on the Kurdish corn
The “sleeping cells” of this structure, which is considered terrorist in Turkey, woke up, as if on cue, and began attacking the Turkish forces.
Kurdish militants are operating according to the classical guerrilla warfare scheme: they install controlled improvised explosive devices in the path of the enemy’s vehicles, fire at stationary roadblocks and patrols, with immediate retreat.
On August 14, YPG representatives reported on the results of their attacks as part of Operation Anger of the Olives (probably called the peak of the Turkish operation on the occupation of Afrin Olive Branch) on pro-Turkish militants and military personnel of Turkey.
This report publishes the Military Browser portal. According to the data presented, on August 5-6, at least three SSA militia groups were attacked.
On August 8, a field commander of one of the pro-Turkish formations, Abdul Razza al-Bakr, was killed in an explosion in the Mabat area.
On August 9, between the villages of Kibashin and Burj Haydar in the Sherad region, the field commander of one of the Feilak al-Sham groups was killed.
On August 11, several pro-Turkish militants and one Turkish soldier were killed by a mined motorcycle explosion. On the same day, a Turkish armored personnel carrier was destroyed between the cities of Afrin and Jinderes by a roadside bomb. Two Turkish soldiers were killed, three wounded.
12 August in the center of Afrin exploded patrol "police" from among the pro-Turkish Islamists. Three militants killed, seven more injured.
Curious is the fact that, strictly speaking, Afrin was surrendered to the Turks practically without a fight. Recall that on January 20, the Turkish General Staff announced the launch of Operation Olive Branch in the Syrian Afrin controlled by Kurdish militia.
Subdivisions of the military police of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation left the enclave after the Kurdish formations under the control of the American emissaries refused not only to recognize Damascus’s sovereignty over these territories, but also to enter into negotiations with it.
The YPG warlords declared that they would defend Afrin to the last drop of blood. And, admittedly, they had opportunities for that. Inaccessible mountainous terrain surrounding the city significantly reduced the capabilities of armored vehicles, providing the Turkish forces with a significant advantage. And in the city itself, as we can see from the example of Mosul and Raqqah, it was possible to offer resistance for a very long time.
Moreover, the SSA militants, recruited by Turkish secret services from various broken jihadist gangs, are mostly poorly trained, poorly disciplined and have not been combat coordinated. And Ankara clearly does not burn with desire to use its regular troops as cannon fodder.
But instead of a long stubborn resistance, the YPG rapidly left their positions, and already on March 18, the Turkish military-political leadership announced that it was taking control of the administrative center of the Afrin region.
A number of media outlets asserted, with reference both to Kurdish and Turkish sources, that the secret agreement between Ankara and Washington, which demanded that their “proxies” withdraw almost without resistance, was the cause of the surrender of the city and the surrounding area.
However, the leadership of YPG claimed that it took this step to avoid innocent civilian casualties, much of which did not have time to evacuate from the left settlements as a result of the rapid retreat of "people's self-defense units."
But how then to explain the current actions of Kurdish militants, who themselves admit that in response to the explosions of vehicles, shelling and attacks, the Turkish military conduct raids in Kurdish villages, burn olive groves, destroy the property of the local population?
Why, then, were they concerned about the life and property of their peaceful tribesmen, and today they so easily put them in jeopardy, precisely when the relations between Turkey and the United States were almost deadlocked?
Knowing today's Middle Eastern realities, there is no doubt that the guerrilla war unfolded in Afrin is sanctioned by the American curators of YPG, who actually lead these armed formations today.
It is clear that these attacks will not force Erdogan to withdraw from Afrin, who plans to expand operations in the north of Syria against the Kurdish formations. Moreover, the SSA militants do not represent any special value for Ankara - no shortage of them is foreseen. As the territory of the SAR is vacated and all new gangs are liquidated, recruits to the ranks of Turkish proxy become more and more. Actually, the more such a “passionate” public will be destroyed, the calmer will be Turkey in the future, which in one way or another will be forced to do something with them.
At the same time, today's actions of Kurdish militants in Afrin do not only push the Turks to attack the territories still under YPG control, but also justify and justify it.
Based on this, it can be assumed that one of the tasks of the actions of Kurdish militants is to provoke repression against the Kurdish population of Afrin, so that these facts could be used in the information war against Turkey, which is gaining new momentum.
Not only the American media, but also politicians, declare Erdogan a dictator, “with whom America is not on the way,” and The New York Times, citing experts, even accuses Turkey of playing an evil game with the Islamic State and Hayat Tahrir banned in Russia. ash-sham ”(Dzhebhat an-Nusra). Including the use of militants of these organizations in the ranks of the PAS. We recognize that the accusations are not groundless, however, the Americans are just as willing to accept the same jihadist gangsters along with Kurdish separatists in the ranks of their proxies like the VTS. In addition, we can recall the repeated reports of the evacuation by the US military from the surrounding areas of the ringleaders and the “caliphate” militants and even their transfer to Afghanistan.
It is such a slippery position of Washington itself (the Turkish intelligence has the full participation in the creation and formation of the IS and other similar groups) that makes it difficult to make the charge of supporting terrorists central to Ankara. Another matter is the charge of war crimes or even genocide against the Kurdish population. Moreover, it will be extremely difficult for the Turks to keep the SSA militants from acts of violence: ethnic cleansing, mass executions are a common practice of the Syrian war.
So, in the very near future in the world's leading media should be waiting for reports of "atrocities of the Turkish soldiers." With the help of these psychological operations, Americans will try to carry out maximum defamation of Turkey and its leaders and try to isolate them as much as possible. First of all, they will try to destroy in this way the ties of Ankara with the EU. Under this task, Kurdish diasporas and some leftist movements will be mobilized in Europe.
Apparently, the crisis of US-Turkish relations is approaching the point of no return, and Ankara’s multi-vector policy, with the help of which it tried to secure a leading position in the region, will come to an end.
