Super heavy KAMAZ will be unmanned
In a few months, the Russian automotive giant KAMAZ will begin implementing its new project called the Odyssey. It aims to develop and test unmanned technology. The first stage includes the launch of a test in-plant route, on which the truck, deprived of the driver, will run, delivering various components to the assembly shops. The machine is equipped with a variety of sensors, navigation equipment, as well as wireless communications.
A little later, KAMAZ plans to launch another project, which received the name "Samson". It involves the robotization of the first heavy duty dump truck class. Load capacity will be about 70 tons. The introduction of unmanned technology will relieve drivers from the danger with which the movement inside the quarry is connected. However, people should not be left working: every autobot will be monitored by an operator who can take over the machine remotely, in case of emergency situations.
