The Yenisei radar complex, which will become part of the Z-500 ZRS, was first shown on the Russia-1 channel in the Vesti-Astrakhan news release.
The report says that tests of the newest anti-aircraft complex “Prometheus” passed 28 of March at the Ashuluk training ground (Astrakhan region).
“The MiG-29CMT, MiG-31BM, Su-25CM, Su-35С, Tu-22М3 and C-300, C-400 and Pantsir-S complexes were also involved in the exercise,” commented on the report RIA News.
The involved equipment and weapons worked out the destruction of air and ground targets.
According to the reporter, the Yenisei radar recognizes ballistic missiles “at an altitude of up to 100 kilometers, and its radius of action reaches 600 kilometers”.
However, most of the characteristics of the Prometheus C-500 system, of which the new radar will become a part, are classified. Earlier it was reported on the ability of the C-500 to detect and hit simultaneously "up to ten ballistic supersonic targets flying at a speed of seven kilometers per second."
The newest system is expected to take up combat duty in 2020 year.
