A solemn ceremony was held at the Russian Embassy in Athens for three Greek citizens who contributed to perpetuating the memory of the Russian military

Greek citizens were awarded departmental medals "For merits in perpetuating the memory of the fallen defenders of the Fatherland." The decree on awarding was signed personally by the Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu. The awards were presented to the President of the Greek-Russian Friendship Society of Kefalonia Island Dimitris Zafiratos, Honorary Consul of Russia in Corfu and the Ionian Islands Nikos Kanulas and the historian and writer Kostas Paduvas.

Ministry of Defense awarded medals to three citizens of Greece

Zafiratos initiated and financed the construction of a monument to Russian sailors in 2011 in the city of Argostoli, who, together with local residents, fought for the freedom of Kefalonia. He was also the initiator of the installation of a memorial tablet in honor of Admiral Fyodor Ushakov.

Nikos Kanulas took an active part in the construction of monuments to Admiral Fyodor Ushakov on the islands of Kerkyra, Zakynthos and Lefkada, as well as a monument to Russians and Greeks who fell for the freedom and Orthodox faith of their fathers on Vidos Island. Every year, the honorary consul helps to hold the public forum "Russian Week on the Ionian Islands".

Kostas Paduvas is the author of the book “Following the trail of the Russian presence in Greece on Crete. 1897-1909 years”, dedicated to Russian soldiers and sailors who contributed to the reunification of Greece and Crete.

The Russian Ambassador to Greece, Andrei Maslov, in his speech, in particular, thanked the Greeks for their careful attitude to the monuments stories. The reception was attended by numerous representatives of military attaches, the Ministry of National Defense of Greece and the armed forces, the diplomatic corps, politics, RIA reports News

Personal THANKS not to indifferent people. And I think the decision to award departmental awards is very wise.

The matter is certainly good, but why send a delegation from the Moscow Region for this?

Sorry, but I didn’t find anything in this news about the “delegation of MO”.
In each embassy we have a military attaché

Military attache of the Russian Federation Gennady Mozhaev at the ceremony of memory of the Great Patriotic War veteran Zinaida Alexandrovna Kuznetsova-Zingelis in Greece
and he could receive medals on his line, but the ambassador personally held the award, who then delivered a speech:
Russian Ambassador to Greece Andrei Maslov

in his speech, in particular, he thanked the Greeks for their careful attitude to the monuments of common history.

      - The Greeks honor their history, and the momentary benefits, unlike some of the once "brothers", do not accept. Respect

And who would not want to fly to the Ionian Islands for free. For this, no medals are not a pity. smile The People’s Artist of Russia Serebryakov renounced Russian citizenship, but he doesn’t take money from his permanent residence in Canada, but in Russia at the “people's” rates, managing to blacken the same Russia and its people.

He was also the initiator of the installation of a commemorative plaque in honor of Admiral Fedor Ushakov.
Interesting, but what should be done for a church built in Russia. To Fedor Ushakov what

Who writes these articles? "The award was signed personally by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu." Since when has the Minister of Defense “signed decrees”?

      We carefully read the article:
      handed over departmental Medals

For reference: rewarding with departmental medals (Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Emergencies and other Railways) is made by ministers (heads of departments).

    Sometimes it sounds just paradoxical.
Monuments to our sailors are restored by the Greeks, they keep the memory of the British PQ convoys, the Danes, and the Americans keep the memory of the aircraft carriers. And those countries that really depended on the results of the battles of our troops with the Nazis hate us and simply equal cemeteries.
