The head of the Donetsk People's Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, stated that the investigation in the republic established all the commanders of the Sparta and Somalia battalions Arseny Pavlov (Motorola) and Mikhail Tolstoy (Givi) involved in the murder.Donetsk News Agency quotes Zakharchenko’s statement:
All persons involved in this were identified, some were detained, but not all. The case is over this year. Those involved in the death of the Tolstoy are directly related to the murder of Arsen Pavlov.
On the eve (on the anniversary of the death of Mikhail Tolstoy) "Military Review" reported that Ukrainian activist Yuri Butusov (editor of the notorious Ukrainian website "Censor") on his Facebook page proudly stated that the operation to kill the battalion commander Givi was thoroughly prepared by representatives of the Security Service Of Ukraine. Thus, Butusov actually confirmed the information about the involvement of representatives of the SBU in the murder of Mikhail Tolstoy and Arseny Pavlov, which had previously appeared in the DPR. In the SBU itself, it was stated that they have nothing to do with acts of terrorism against the well-known combatants of the DPR.
Arseny Pavlov was killed in the elevator of his home in Donetsk on October 16 2016. The explosive device, according to some, was installed on top of the elevator car. Mikhail Tolstykh died in his office in the Makeyevka military unit 8 February 2017 of the year. According to investigators, the sabotage group used the Bumblebee jet-thrower.
The names of those involved in the killings of Givi and Motorola Zakharchenko did not name.
