Tymchuk: And what should we do if Putin leaves the Donbass?
33
The coordinator of the Ukrainian group "Information Resistance" Dmitry Tymchuk, better known as the "talking helmet", suggested that Ukraine absolutely does not know what to do if "Putin decides to leave the Donbass". Reflecting on the so-called restoration of Ukrainian sovereignty over "certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions," Tymchuk said (quote "Apostrophe"):
We ourselves do not understand what problems we will face, if suddenly tomorrow Putin leaves the Donbass, and we get what we want, the Donbass will return to Ukraine. Firstly, today there are only approximate estimates, how much money is needed to rebuild the destroyed infrastructure of Donbass. Secondly, it will be necessary to solve social and economic problems. The option of non-payment of pensions and social benefits, as is happening now, because it is an occupied territory, is not a ride.
This statement alone Tymchuk exposes all of Kiev policy in the Donbas. This policy is such that the Donbass Kiev is not needed as such. All that is needed is constant instability, which for the time being allows you to beg for money from Western partners. However, Kiev is already experiencing problems with obtaining new loans from the EU and the IMF.
Further Tymchuk declares:
And we will need to understand the situation with the perception of Ukraine by the local population. For three and a half years, the local population has been torn out - and at the moment it has been irrevocably torn out - from the information space of Ukraine. And even though we say that there are many patriots there, but according to our estimates there cannot be many patriots there. There are no more than a fifth of people who sympathize with Ukraine and are ready to do something in the name of Ukraine.
According to Tymchuk, “if Putin leaves (from Donbass), nobody in Ukraine knows whether Russia will support local partisan detachments and underground organizations.”
