The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is going to open six Presidential cadet schools
“The President of the Russian Federation set the task of opening presidential cadet schools in Vladivostok, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Irkutsk at the recently extended expanded collegium of the Ministry of Defense,” Priezheva said.
She recalled that this year similar educational institutions in Krasnodar and Tyumen should open. Priezheva added that today the 28 secondary schools are in the Ministry of Defense structure, of which nine are outside the Russian Federation.
“With the change in the order of military service on the territory of foreign states, the Ministry of Defense gradually eliminates the need to maintain general education schools abroad,” explained Priezhev.
She clarified that, in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation on 2010, these nine schools will be transferred to Rossotrudnichestvo.
"The schools remaining in the territory of the Russian Federation, located in closed military camps, remote from settlements, and in places of compact residence of military personnel in the North Caucasus region, the Ministry of Defense decided to keep and finance at the expense of the department," said the head of the Department of the Ministry of Defense.
In accordance with the instructions of the head of state, from 2010 to 2013, Presidential cadet schools should be established in all federal districts of the Russian Federation. The goal of educational institutions is to train young people who are oriented towards the civil service in the military and civil field.
Presidential cadet schools are created under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense on the funds of the military educational institutions being liquidated.
Acquisition of schools is carried out on a competitive basis by minors, both boys and girls. The advantage is given to the children of servicemen and civilian personnel of the Armed Forces. In addition, orphaned children and children left without parental care, as well as talented children living in the territory of the relevant federal district, are admitted to the schools.
The duration of training in schools is seven years. Funding is provided from the federal budget.
