Lithuanian cyber army will boost informational situation
To the amazement of the Lithuanian leadership, the “West-2017” doctrine was completed, and no one captured the country. However, anti-Russian rhetoric continues, projecting from a real battlefield into virtuality. In order to defend against Russia, Lithuania decided to create its own cyber army.
Thus, at the meeting of the leaders of the European Union countries in Tallinn, which took place on 29 of September, Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite presented the initiative of the European “cybernetic Schengen”. According to her, cyber attacks are increasingly threatening the rapidly growing digital economy of the EU.
In addition, the Chairman of the National Security and Defense Committee of the Lithuanian Seimas Vytautas Bakas spoke on this topic the other day, stating that Lithuania should improve its own cyber defense and subsequently allocate more 2% of GDP to the country's defense.
“As a front-line, as a border state, we cannot stop at two percent,” said the head of the Lithuanian National Security Council.
Indeed, in the 2018 year, Lithuania will join the “elite club” of NATO states, which can allocate 2% of GDP for military spending. However, as it became known, this figure is the minimum in the plans for the future. The head of the Lithuanian state very quickly became a supporter of the growth of military spending and was the first to support the Defense Ministry’s funding bar at the level of 2,5% by 2019.
Is it worth mentioning that Lithuania, which is so eager to enter this closed “club”, has catastrophic problems in the country's agricultural sector and, as a result, a low standard of living? In addition, having lowered the country to a demographic “bottom”, Lithuanian politicians still support the mantra of “aggressive Russia”, thus allocating fabulous money for the useless defense of the country.
Now Lithuania has decided to “pump up” muscles in cyberspace.
According to the Ministry of National Security, from January 1, a new system of national cyber security will be functioning in Lithuania from 2018. It is known that an information technology service and a national center for cyber security will begin operating under the military.
In addition, it is planned to create three cyber divisions subordinate to the Ministry of Defense. The official name of each cyber division is the module of cyber defense and control of networks. In this case, the number of personnel of each module will be 20 specialists. The first module, consisting of professional military personnel, will be in constant combat readiness. The other two are from the military personnel of the reserve, who will be included in the overall work when tasks arise.
It is known that October 2 cyber division participated in the Lithuanian national cybernetic shield 2017 exercise, in which around 200 representatives from Lithuanian 50 companies working in the information infrastructure are involved.
“On the first day of the maneuvers, representatives of Lithuanian companies at the level of managers in Vilnius will work out the management of cyber incidents, according to the cyber security database established in Lithuania. From October 3-4, the participants of the maneuvers will be divided into teams and will begin to reflect cyber attacks in the virtual information infrastructure specially created for the exercises, ”the Lithuanian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
It should be noted that at the time when “aggressive” Russia reduces defense spending by almost 20%, the military-political leadership of the Republic of Lithuania is imbued with the unfading spirit of militarism.
Now, the newly created Lithuanian mini-cyber army will boost the situation in the information space.
