The Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports on the progress of exercises of the Strategic Missile Forces. Particular emphasis is placed on the fact that during the training activities the troops used the “Foliage” remote demining machine for the first time. The application was carried out to clear the route of the Yars mobile ground-based missile complex.
The legend of the exercise was as follows: the saboteurs laid on the road along which the "Yars" walked, near 20 explosive devices with remote control. These explosive devices were supposed to be powered by ordinary mobile phones. MDR "Foliage" found installed mines thanks to emitters. Explosions were made.
From the message press service Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation:
All bookmarks were destroyed. The units of the Yars mobile missile system for which these “surprises” were intended were at that time at a great distance from the explosion site and could not be harmed. The MDR (“Foliage”) defused all explosive devices without exception: not only on the sidelines and the road, but also at a distance of 70 meters from the road itself.
For reference: MDR mines and land mines can be detected at a distance of up to 100 m. The detection sector is 30 degrees. An electronic pulse of microwave radiation is used to destroy explosive devices.
Press Service Office:
The machine was created specifically for the Strategic Missile Forces and proved its effectiveness in the course of command-staff exercises with the Novosibirsk missile compound.
It is reported that by the year 2020 more than 300 units of various types of engineering equipment will be supplied to the engineering units of the Strategic Missile Forces, as well as truck cranes, mechanized bridges, etc.
