The first open demonstration of the tank T-90M

57
The T-90M tank was first openly demonstrated at an exhibition of armored vehicles in honor of Tanker’s Day in the 33rd Luga Combined Arms Testing Ground (Leningrad Region). A curious feature demonstrated at the 33rd test site of the sample tank T-90M was the use of "soft" mesh protective shields on it to protect the bottom of the tower.

The function and effectiveness of the "soft" mesh screens are not entirely understood ..... What should BOPs and KSy "get confused" in them ????

NO ... the function is similar to that of lattice screens, but it is easier and more efficient, 50-50 lattices either break the funnel without detonation, or lead to detonation. the soft grid does not practically lead to detonation, but passes a grenade into the cell, after which the bolts along the edges of the square deform and tear the blank body, which leads to the neutralization of the damaging element.

You saw with what bolts it is screwed to the DZ, an RPG grenade will tear off this grid.

Perhaps, when a grenade hits the screen, it will stupidly change the flight path and fly right into the yulok dz instead of the tower shoulder strap?

actually not bolted, but skipped under the bolts, so that tear off the torment, because the mesh is not rigidly fixed

It will tear off after the warhead’s deformation, it is made of thin luminous tin.

For this to happen, the grid must be fixed on both sides, here only on one. So cut RPG grenade does not work.

The grenade will fall into the lasso, like the head of a horse and will change its path with an inclination to the top. The grenade has the shape of a wedge, DZ of the reverse wedge, which probably will not allow the fuse to work, as they will collide with the sides of their wedges, at this time the tail with the plumage will rest against the tank body, also sideways, in its lower part, but the inertia force and the working throwing charge (depending on the type of grenade), will facilitate the movement of the disc as well in front (the speed is decent enough) ... in such cases the grenade will simply tear to pieces (the grenade’s body is actually tin, it doesn’t need much effort to fly to smithereens ) In the worst case, it simply leaves the path of generating a turret-free, unprotected DZ space, and when it detonates, the funnel may already be damaged (deformed) and the formation of the jet will not be correct, which will lead to a decrease in armor penetration, but taking into account the change in direction, the jet will fall into the effective range. Everything is physics and mathematics.

Well, what can I do about that in Ukraine there are no such nets. There are only nets from old Soviet beds or from windows. Therefore, questions arise. feel

Pleased with a remotely controlled anti-aircraft machine gun. Finally.
A log on its side is completely in vain. There it will certainly be lost. And when transporting by rail, it will still come down to remove it and attach it to another place.

good Actually, I would like to supplement you - where in the presence of a log to add "backpacks" of dynamic protection? Just the same personification, "either remove the cross or put on your underpants."
Moreover, I really want to make those who demanded to hang this log and those who agreed to this - do-it-yourself "prove" its usability and usefulness. There is also a feeling that those who added the log directly dream (literally) of soldiers in footcloths and quilted jackets fool . When the psychology of senior management in the plan has already changed - modern technology is not a "horse" and needs to be serviced, including by hardships, and if necessary then by Warm storage hangars !!

To put it seriously, this is a really miserable imitation of either the real people, with their mercenaries, or we command ukrams, with their "beds" and bars from fences. Here

More than a reliable solution without any "amateur performances." Well, if you add "a little truth" then it will turn out sad

This is what the vaunted "impenetrable" tower of the same "leopard" is. That is, God himself told us to “sheathe” a well-booked tower with such “cartons” and nets.
It’s time to forget such stupidity “it’s easier to get into a big tank,” at this stage it is just the opposite - in the absence of tank combat, the anti-grenade “body kit” is most necessary. Letting the enemy enter these fake "walls" of the tower, at least on the forehead, at least on the side, if it were to penetrate the "bare" tower, there is a chance that there will not be enough distance (for the jet). And if there had been a “miss” and then “scored” - well, to hell with it, the tank itself would not lose combat capability, and the “fool” could be “fixed” with a simple welding after the battle. good

Yes Yes. The enemy has only one RPG. And after the collapse of the tower cartons, he will have nothing more to shoot at the big tank ...
Or do you not agree that it is more difficult to get into a smaller projection and quite the opposite? How many armor-piercing grenades are there in the infantry department in the state?

          16 September 2017 14: 13
After a shot from an RPG, that is, modern grenades, it’s 300 maximum 500 meters from the tank (and most likely not only) so it arrives that nothing will remain of the grenade launcher.

So now the most effective are 2nd generation ATGMs. And from them there is no particular difference between the meter in the height of the target.

Explosion DZ will go in the direction of the fenders, is not it? And the steel (or what is it now?) Plate, or rather its fragments (and fragments of a projectile or BOPS) will tear off the shelf and the shelf, and damage the side DZ. The result is an open side.

It’s a great video of paligon mining of the “sphere of a big horse,” but the Internet is full of real videos where there are no logs, often because the tank is just “drowned” in the mud. Modern tanks have become so expensive that for such cases it is now “not expensive” to attach one or more MTLBs to tank groups.
Okay, let’s leave aside the expensive “armature” and look at the realities of the war in the Donbass - there is not a single video of such a use of “self-extraction”. It would seem why? As a tanker is not at all, I can only assume that in a real war no one drowns tanks one by one in the mud or pulls them out using existing equipment. Well, or maybe the tank commanders in the swamp (sand) just do not climb in order to not arrange "dancing with logs" like that later. feel

In battle, dancing with logs does not suit. And on the march or in reconnaissance approaches may well come in handy. And the "rugs" - a lot of those rugs the crew of three will carry? Go once in 5-6 heavier than a log. And to pull regular property out of the swamp will be much more fun than a tank with its help. And you won’t give up, not a log, which can be updated in the next fishing line
