China has created a new wheeled “fighter tanks". According to the portal janes.com, one of the largest manufacturers of military equipment in the PRC, North Industries Corporation (NORINCO), presented a new modification of the VP10 armored personnel carrier.
The first BTR VP10 was presented in 2015 year. In the basic configuration, the armored personnel carrier is amphibious, equipped with a combat module with a 12,7-mm machine gun and can hold up to 14 people (two crew members and 12 paratroopers).
The new version of the VP10 is a classic anti-tank self-propelled artillery, which according to the Western classification is called “Tank Destroying Vehicle (TDV). The self-propelled gun is armed with an 105-mm weapon, the declared armor penetration rate of which is 650 mm steel, covered with dynamic protection.
Since the new combat module weighs significantly more than the “native”, the VP10 lost its amphibious capabilities, and its troop compartment was reequipped to store ammunition and accommodate the inside of an inhabited combat module. VP10 in the modification of "tank destroyer" is an export armament model and will not be supplied to the Chinese army, reports "Warspot".
