AU-220М “Baikal” is a Russian uninhabited combat module with a 57-mm gun developed by the Central Research Institute “Burevestnik”. The AU-220М is designed as a remote-controlled artillery installation intended for installation on advanced and modernized armored combat vehicles in order to increase the firepower of motorized rifle and infantry units. The power of 57-mm gun ammunition allows you to hit on the battlefield most of the existing armored objects. The gun is an improved version of the C-60 anti-aircraft artillery gun.

A wonderful module, and the armor penetration will be like that of the ZiS-2, all armored vehicles and tanks on board will be easily hit, and the range and high-explosive action are better than that of a 30-mm shell

Do not confuse anti-aircraft S-60 and anti-tank ZiS-2, these are completely different guns with different shells. Their total caliber is only.

those shells that are in warehouses can pierce 60 mm of a homogeneous plate at an angle of 30% at a distance of 2 meters, i.e. if modern ammunition is developed, then we can talk about the guaranteed destruction of any modern infantry fighting vehicle at a distance of 000 km, but if the infantry fighting vehicle has tank armor, then we will talk about the defeat at a distance of 2 km, although such BMPs will be burned from ATRA earlier .. where did you get 1 shells in the tower? If we are talking about Baikal, then there are only 200 shells in the stack, you need to either hide the ammunition shell in the shell or a crazy compartment under them

Well, I was talking about an uninhabited module, if the module is habitable, then 300 shells can be placed there, in principle, for old machines of the BTR-80 or BMP-2 level, installing 57 mm would be interesting, since it would allow creating a system that would destroy any armored personnel carrier / bmp in the world, add the AGS and ATGM and the infantry with tanks will be dead, the Germans incidentally had a combat vehicle with 57 mm and ATGM, but refused

        Rheinmetal 40mm pierce 150mm at 2000m at 90 degrees ...
The problem is that we don’t know how to work with a detachable pallet ... Yes, and an Italian-controlled 57mm projectile needs to be copied .... but for this it needs to be intercepted somewhere ...

you miss an important point: 150 mm at 2 at right angles is the current limit, and the s-000 breaks through similar conditions with 60 mm old shell fired almost 70 years ago ..

Something I did not see in the PBS ammunition list. Purely theoretically, their introduction, it seems to me, will significantly expand the ability to combat tanks and bunkers.

Anything larger than 20mm is a projectile, not a cartridge.

but our warriors, for some reason, this module dynamically ...

In the sources, the height of the defeat of "Baikal" is indicated 6 km, but the S-60 with the same barrel hit 12 km (16 km at the end), which depends on the type of projectile .... I hope they will do normal ...

      A 100 mm bullet in an BMP 3 with an initial projectile speed of 250 m / s hits 8 km ...
Reach at a height of 57mm for the S-60 gun 12 km (6 km effective, but there is no chance to get higher)

One of the best guns ZIS-2 57mm confidently hollowed for 1-1,5 km pzIII ... and here 12 km ??? If only active-reactive. And then while flying, it will lose its dynamics and, accordingly, its penetrative ability.

Zis-2 direct shot range of 1 km .... you take a little higher and flies further
For example, the KS-19 anti-aircraft gun with a 100mm projectile with an initial speed of 900ms, reach at a height of 15.5 km
