Su-47 "Berkut" - a project of the Russian prospective carrier-based fighter, developed in the OKB Design Bureau. Dry. The fighter has a reverse-swept wing, composite materials are widely used in the airframe design. The chief designer is Mikhail Aslanovich Pogosyan.
The project developed first as a promising fighter model with CBS for the USSR Air Force (Su-27 modernization, C-37 theme) as part of the industry research program from 1983, but this topic was closed in 1988. After that, the project was ordered by the USSR Navy, which predetermined the further development of the project as a promising aircraft for aircraft-carrying cruisers. The project was renamed and named Su-27KM (ship modified). Further, after the collapse of the USSR and the crisis in the country in 1990-x, state funding from the project was withdrawn and it continued only thanks to the own funding of the Sukhoi Design Bureau. As a result, after all the twists and turns, the plane was presented to the public at the MAKS-1999 exhibition under the name C-37 “Berkut”, and renamed MAX-2001 to Su-47 “Berkut”. In 1997, the first flying Su-47 was built, now it is experimental.
