The anti-submarine missile complex RPK-8 is designed to protect surface ships from submarines, as well as to destroy torpedoes and submarine saboteurs reaching the ship. RPK-8 is the result of a deep modernization of the widespread anti-submarine complex "Smerch-2" adopted by the USSR Navy in 1961.
