The large landing ship Ivan Gren of the 11711 project is a further development of the Tapir 1171 project. Ships of this type with a displacement of 5 thousand tons are intended for the landing of troops, transportation of machinery and equipment.

"Ivan Gren" can land on the coast up to 300 marines, 40 armored personnel carriers or 13 tanks. Two helicopters of the KA-29 type are placed on the deck. The ship has a 76-mm gun, two AK-630 anti-aircraft guns and multiple launch rocket systems.

    A very good ship, half the much praised Mistral, and it carries the same number of tanks, and only 20 less armored personnel carriers. And even so much will fit into the Mistral, only if there are no helicopters in the below-deck hangar. And armed all the same, unlike the French floating target. lol

    For fire support, the 76-mm caliber landing will not be enough ... "a hundred" is more relevant for the single-target destruction of single targets. 2 pcs. Ka-29 is good for transferring first-throw groups, but these helicopters will not provide fire support ... It was not for nothing that they engaged in Mistrals, there the naval version of Ka-52 was located in sufficient quantity to support the landing.
