Site Russian Foreign Ministry reports on a symmetrical step of Russia towards the Republic of Moldova. Recall that the other day, at once, five Russian diplomats were declared persona non-grata by official Chisinau. They were obliged to leave Moldova. This decision of the government of the country, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon, called a provocation directed against the Moldovan-Russian partnership, and urged Russia not to respond by expelling Moldovan diplomatic representatives from the Russian Federation.
Initially, it was reported that Russia really would not recognize Moldovan diplomats as persona non grata as a reciprocal step. However, now the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry reports that the expulsion of the diplomats of the Republic of Moldova from Russia will take place.
From the report:
On May 31, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Russian Federation N.Meiняa was invited to the Russian Foreign Ministry, where he was handed a note indicating that five members of the Moldovan diplomatic mission in Moscow responded to the 29’s expulsion in May of five Russian diplomats from Chisinau declared "persona non grata", and they are ordered to leave the territory of the Russian Federation within three days. The Russian side expressed the hope that in Chisinau they realize the counterproductiveness of their unfriendly actions towards the Russian Federation and the destructive nature of the step taken by the Moldovan side, which runs counter to the principles of partnership and mutual trust.
Recall that the Prime Minister of Moldova, Pavel Filip, said that Russian diplomats would be sent on the basis of some data from the Moldovan secret services.
Today it also became known that Russia notified Estonia of the return expulsion of two Estonian diplomats.
