August. Eighth

113
Recently, the movie “August. Eighth ”, shot by a famous actor, director, screenwriter, producer Janik Fayziev, who talks about the events in South Ossetia that took place in August 2008 of the year. Fayziev was noted in it in three qualities at once - the director, the producer, together with Ilya Bachurin and Fyodor Bondarchuk, the scriptwriter, together with the famous Hollywood screenwriter Michael A. Lerner, who was a military journalist in the past.

Many interesting projects are associated with the name of Janik Fayziev, such as the films “Admiral”, “Turkish Gambit”, “Day Watch”, “Night Watch”, “The Irony of Fate. Continuation "... But his new work has thrown some critics into confusion: why do we need" military agitpropaganda "in our time. If we talk about "August ...", then call it only military-patriotic would be completely wrong. Yes, it has a large number of military component. However, the events of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict are presented as an interweaving of the fate of many people, hopes, faith and love, the destruction of the material world and the hymn to the best human spiritual qualities, which will allow us to call the picture a melodrama. There is no “iron” patriotism in it, there is only love for one’s land, where people close to man live. You can protect these people even at the cost of your own life. Pathetics in this movie-requiem no. Mother's tears about the loss of his child in the war is just love, a dream of peace, but not propaganda against military conflict.

However, this picture should not be called just a melodrama. The best definition would be a combination of genres, since it also has fantastic elements, which, oddly enough, only added to the psychological aspect of the film. This kind of "fantastic" line involving combat robots and mechanical dragons only draws attention to the horror and senselessness of resolving conflicts with the help of aggression.

Also, the film can be attributed to the adventure genre, which contributes to the exciting plot and the rapid development of events. The sensation of the power of the movement gives rise to unprecedented in scale shooting, which use the most modern achievements in the field of computer graphics and special effects, which until now had no analogues in Russian cinema.

The picture is completely determined by its name - “August. Eighth. " A well-known fact is that in war all human qualities manifest themselves especially strongly and vividly. Survival becomes the main thing, and morality fades into the background, becoming the lot of strong people. So the plot sees Fayziev. The shooting was carried out in Ossetia, Abkhazia and Moscow. In order to find a suitable nature, I had to travel around almost the entire North Caucasus to search for species that would emphasize the ugliness and unnaturalness of war as much as possible. To transmit the scale of real military operations, more than thirty units of real military equipment were involved in the filming - armored personnel carriers, military Tanks and helicopters. About XNUMX thousand soldiers, as well as more than three thousand civilians, most of whom were eyewitnesses of the events that happened at that time, were involved in the crowd. According to the director, it is worth noting the help of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, which made the film very truthful and reliable.

So after all what movie? Muscovite Xenia, played by Svetlana Ivanova, lives after a divorce from her mother and seven-year-old son Artem. New family life is the ultimate dream of a woman. However, her son, who is fond of playing games with robots, was not liked by the newly appeared mother's elect, Egor, played by Alexander Oleshko. By the way, it is worth noting that it is Artem’s fantasies that give life to toy robots, with which the kid tries to solve his problems.

The main thing in the film is the contrast between peace and war. In August, Ksenia goes to rest in Sochi with her fiancé, while Artem’s father (Yegor Beroev) takes her son to the Caucasus. It does not even occur to a combat officer that this trip can bring. Death overtakes Artem's parents, he only miraculously manages to escape. And in order to wrest his son from the epicenter of hostilities Xenia arrives in the Caucasus. She pursues the goal - to save the child, overcoming circumstances and fear, and become happy. And the most interesting thing in the film is that it makes no sense to argue on how many percent it is close to reality. It seems that this is a fantastic storyhowever, she has several prototypes from reality. This was mentioned by the director himself, as well as by one of the prototypes of the main character, Aleksey Uvachov, the commander of the intelligence group, who received the title of Hero of Russia. Fayziev is very picky about details, so he approached the shooting very seriously. As the hero of Russia noted, the film even retained its call sign “Lipa”.

For actors, the shooting was not easy. 50 from 90 shooting days in the Caucasus turned out to be very cold and rainy. But this did not prevent the survey participants from laying out to the maximum. The director said at one of the meetings with the audience that the opportunity to create was given to us by the Almighty, so you need to use everything we can to convey to the audience one simple thought - there is no place for war in our lives. Let's hope that his voice will be heard.

This film should have been called not "August. Eighth", but "Transformers 4." And I also wanted to ask if "Tigers" participated in the hostilities in Ossetia?

Also interesting about tigers. It seems that Hero of Russia, a participant in the events, advised the director and said that all the equipment and the stray are native, which means that the tigers were in his opinion.

There couldn’t be tigers in 2008, since they were then equipped with American Cummins engines, and not YaMZ, as now. Consequently, they could not be adopted and placed in the troops. The only way they could get there was in the form of a PSD, but what the hell would drive police cars into the conflict zone.
As for the film, review the first trailer and you will clearly see the rims of the Hammers, who did not even bother to cover up.

        Cap-3 ussr,

NO NO NO disagree the events of 08.08.08 did not take place long ago to turn them into "knights of the round table"

Why did the events in Somalia not happen to turn into "Transformers" removed "the fall of the black eagle"? !

According to this logic, it remains to make films in the LIKE style about the bombings of houses in Moscow Volgodonsk, etc., and about the war in Chechnya, let the 10-year-olds think that this was a fairy tale and MOTHER the lost sons of the wife of the husbands, the children of the fathers, look and admire the director’s imagination! ! ! What does the HMMWV / Humvee have to do with it (Hummer H1 in civilian modification)? The point is that the director wanted to show exactly the Russian Tigers and it is a question of whether they were then in parts of the RF Armed Forces or not. And he used it Hummer H2.

The first picture is really a Tiger. In Variant SPM with American engines Cummins, but in army camouflage, apparently Chechen fighters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. All the same, they dragged them, yes.

But in the rest of your shots - the Hammers. This is clearly seen in the wheels and the structure of the front, as well as the size of the wheels and their proportions to the body. It can also be seen that the handles of the car in the film are identical to Hammer.

Incidentally, Spielberg in an interview said that he was greatly influenced by Soviet war cinema of the 60s - early 70s. in some scenes it is clearly visible.

in order to make a good movie, filmmakers need such a trifle as love for the motherland without any reservations and the absence of base goals when creating a film. the current trend requires the pouring of fecal masses on the holy with postmodern freaks in order to get a stucco at an international festival.

About the description of the picture, literally a separate moment sounds like this: "So what is the film about? Muscovite Ksenia, played by Svetlana Ivanova, lives after a divorce from her mother and seven-year-old son Artem. A new family life is the ultimate dream of a woman. However, her son who is fond of games with robots, the newly-minted mother's chosen one Yegor, played by Alexander Oleshko, did not like it. By the way, it is worth noting that it is Artyom's fantasies that give life to robotic toys, with the help of which the kid tries to solve his problems.

The main thing in the film is the contrast between peace and war. In August, Ksenia goes on vacation to Sochi with her fiancé, while Artyom's father (Yegor Beroev) takes his son to his place in the Caucasus. The combat officer does not even think about what this trip might bring. Death overtakes Artyom's parents, he only miraculously manages to escape. And in order to snatch her son from the epicenter of hostilities, Ksenia arrives in the Caucasus. "

However, there are already several inconsistencies here. For example, I did not understand who the parents of the child Ksenia and Yegor Beroev were, right? however, how, after the death of the parents, the boy Ksenia (where did she come from, because she died) eats for his son in the Caucasus ... And the father of the child, played by Beroev, does he die, or also then rebels?

Another naive film with a superwoman in the lead role (the second film on 08.08.08/XNUMX/XNUMX is already the same) ..
there wouldn’t be a film about ordinary soldiers, especially since there are already known heroes. a tanker breaking through the environment on a tank without ammunition, a scout dying covering the journalist

Guys, "Chistiliche" is NOT a FORMAT movie. This is for a narrow circle and the "cry of the soul" of the director-screenwriter. Children under 16.
"Storm Gate", on the other hand, is an attempt to make a movie of a good category, but not up to the level of "Private Rain", even a hundred times "cranberry." They did not reach the level of the story that formed the basis.
Conclusion: do more, comrade. Russian filmmakers! ESPECIALLY when it comes to the FAMILY segment of the film market, this is exactly how "August. Eighth." Or you, being thirty (plus or minus), will go with your five-year-old child and wife to a "family viewing" of the "Pasture" ??????

Even in the epic "Liberation", the legendary Yuri Nikolaevich Ozerov, there are a lot of blunders. And many participants in the Second World War, in Soviet times, Soviet cinema, watched with some "condescension", understanding the true state of affairs. Remaining at the same time PATRIOTS who did not spare their own lives in the Second World War. I repeat once again: you need to shoot, shoot a lot, shoot with high quality!

This kind of nonsense has not been around for a long time. to the full height. Here 30 times FOR!
Well, what "Discoverer" will be so "shone" in the window of the building, with binoculars and an assistant, at the time of his assault? I.e; at your windows, almost a company of the enemy is conducting a hurricane of fire, and you are stupidly standing in the window and "contemplating the battle ...." And I counted this "blooper" 5 times. No, I certainly have an indirect, distant relation to the Marines, thanks to the Father, and tried to "watch" this "movie". BUT! what killed most of all was the unprofessional attitude of dressers to the form of movie characters. Well, a person cannot help but sweat in an African climate! And on all the characters, both "ours" and "geese" (mercenaries), NEW, CLEAN, NOT Worn uniform, ironed, to the arrows in the parade! Probably the dressers had to "broke" to wash, after filming. It looks as if the "demobilization" in the "demobilization" after the cross, with full gear, remained perfectly clean. The performance of "fights" does not even look like "ballet" on the day of the Navy. There are "dynamic scenes" that, as it seems to me, were stretched because of the "footage" of the film. That is, they could have been faster and, therefore, more dynamic, but the need to bury themselves in a "certain footage" made the assault scenes to be pulled "frame by frame", on the editing of the picture. If I edited them without being a "hostage" of the footage, they would have rested in the absence of footage and, as a result, would have been shorter than one minute. Simply put: the material was not finished. It is because of such "movie bloopers", seasoned with a fig game, the absence of a consultant (they do not always handle weapons correctly), not to mention the "crooked trunk" (probably the Browning M2) on the jeep of the "main boss" of bad guys, such a movie - sucks. It sucks. Sucks, not worthy of "patriotic cinema". And there is no need to belittle the glory of our Marines !!!! (like a movie)

Or about tank battles in Soviet cinema ... the same Rambo3 with Puma, depicting Mi24 "; In the end, the theme of" aircraft modeling "in the cinema was worked out on Agent 007 Golden Eye (Mock models), but still in the modern world, such "nuances" must be taken seriously - the audience is demanding.

Old films are not in competition, but new ones need to be maintained so that they do not drown in the sea of these fictional waters. Since the more support there is, the films will be bolder and more patriotic. The same quiet outpost is far from true events (I hate when they show some kind of a massacre when, in fact, 18-year-old boys professionally performed tasks and emerged victorious, and by the way they fought not with their peers but with a trained and well-unprepared enemy.), but you can’t cut off attempts. Nilf-gaard, not in the eyebrow, but in the eye! 9 hiccups, still an example of an incomprehensible movie. What did His Majesty the Director want to show ??? The horror of war ??? Heroism of the Soviet Soldier ??? For me, Fedya, as a director, rehabilitates himself before the guys when he removes at least a "documentary" about the ninth company. But devoid of His "artistic throwing"! And in the preface it should be: "I am Fedya Bondarchuk, I want to tell a TRUE story about 9Rota, forgive the guys for what I used your FEAT as material, to satisfy my own directorial ambitions."
Burnt by Mikhalkov is a classic example of a "written out" scriptwriter-director. There is simply no difference between Dom2 and Pop on Mine. Phrase; "sexual fantasies of Novodvorskaya" - an exact definition, once worthy of comrade. Mikhalkov. Boyarin signed up. But what infuriates me more is the scene when His Majesty Boyar of All Russia, Comrade Mikhalkov, with the help of a log, picks out a Russian soldier from under a German tank. After their "tear squeeze" threw out the disc with the film tries.

I am skeptical about many of the newfangled advertised military-themed crafts, and I went to this film with a fair amount of suspicion. Before watching, I saw one trailer (where the specialists on "Tigers" go) and thought that the film ... serious ... tough. In general, for an adult audience.
Seeing the robots, frankly, at first stunned. But after watching, having comprehended what I saw, I can say one thing - take your children with you and go to the cinema. Even on a voluntary basis))
Do not compare this picture with "The Black Hawk Down", "The Rescue of a Private ...", "The Lord of the Storm". Do not equate it with Soviet War masterpieces. Even with last year's "Brest Fortress" (which, by the way, I liked very much, I will not say about the ugliness that Mr. Mikhalkov is shooting).
"August. Eighth" is a film for boys. For those who know more about the "exploits" of the brave American Marines than about the victories of their grandfathers in the Second World War. Let in this form, with robots and other whistle-making, but the guys are brought up pride for their country, for their army.

Such "filmmakers" with their "filmmakers" should not be allowed on a wide screen at all. Another semblance of a filmmaker removed another semblance of cinematography. The rest of the crap he shot is also of the same quality. The work of Bondarchuk is also widely known. His ability to distort events in his own way does not bring anything useful.
