American troops stationed in Germany are adapting their armored vehicles to combat operations in Europe. The beginning of the transition to the camouflage system Barracuda MCS (mobile camouflage system) from the Swedish company Saab, put the 2 th cavalry regiment of the US Army, reports "Warspot" with reference to the portal defensenews.com
Stryker armored personnel carriers in MCS camouflage
The first to receive a new camouflage system were the Stryker armored personnel carriers from the 2 Cavalry Regiment of the US Army stationed in Filsaccus (Bavaria). Barracuda MCS camouflage for “Striker" is a relief camouflage fabric with elements of green and brown colors of various shades.
New camouflage masks technology in the optical and infrared spectra. In addition, Barracuda partially hides cars from radar, and can also be equipped with a system that reduces visibility for thermal imagers. According to the US military command, the troops have already received four sets of new camouflage, and in the next two months it will be tested. If the camouflage system meets the requirements of the military, then a significant number of Barracuda MCS kits will be purchased for American armored vehicles.
Barracuda MCS camouflage is a multi-layer modular system that can be easily mounted on armored vehicles. If necessary, it can be dismantled or changed to a similar masking with a different color. According to Scott Caldwell, head of the Barracuda division at Saab, the first sets were provided to the Americans for free. If the experience of using Swedish camouflage is successful, then Saab will be able to produce Barracuda MCS for other models of American military equipment.
