The P-23 is a medium-range Soviet (Russian) air-to-air missile. The sensitivity of the thermal homing missile R-23T allows you to attack the target and on the opposite course (to capture the target rather weak kinetic heating of the front edges of the aircraft).

The rocket has a bearing wing and stabilizers in the bow. The roll stabilization is performed by an automatic control system. On the rocket, either a rod (23 kg) or fragmentation (26 kg) warhead can be mounted. To explode the warhead is used radio-fuse.
