United States Permanent Representative to the UN Nikki Haley has urged to put pressure on Russia in Syria

Pressure on Russia is necessary to resolve the conflict in Syria, said US Permanent Representative to the UN Nikki Haley. Her words leads RIA News:
Many of you said that we should put pressure on the Syrian regime, but it is not. We need to put pressure on Russia, because Russia continues to cover the Syrian regime
- Hayley said at a meeting of the UN Security Council on the humanitarian situation in Syria.
According to her, Moscow "continues to allow them (the Syrian authorities) to prevent humanitarian aid."
In early April, Haley said that a political settlement of the Syrian conflict is impossible as long as President Bashar Assad remains in power in the country.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in turn, said that Moscow would oppose attempts to abandon the political settlement in Syria and take the course of a change of power in this country. He stressed that he sees no alternatives to the implementation of the 2254 resolution. The UN Security Council adopted the 2254 resolution in December 2015. It contains a roadmap for resolving the Syrian civil war. The resolution provides for the development of a new constitution for the country and the holding of presidential elections.
