The battle of names. In Odessa, Heavenly Hundred Avenue was renamed back to Marshal Zhukov Avenue
The project of returning former names to several Odessa streets was initiated by the former acting head of Odessa, Oleg Bryndak. The so-called activists tried to hinder the decision-making process in every possible way, but they nevertheless approved the initiative at the local city council.
So, Odessa returns the prospectus of Marshal G.K. Zhukov. Let us remind you that it was previously renamed into the avenue of the so-called Heavenly Hundred. The deputies, according to Odessa information sources, decided to return the name of the famous Victory Marshal to the avenue, since there is a note in the law that the names assigned to geographical objects in honor of historical figures who made efforts to drive out the Nazi occupiers. Instead of the avenue, the name of the Heavenly Hundred was given to Karl Liebknecht Street. At the same time, the street of Heroes of the Defense of Stalingrad was renamed into the street of Heroes of the Defense of Odessa.
They returned the former name to Valentina Tereshkova Street, saying that in this case Saakashvili, when renamed, “exceeded official authority”.
The name was returned to Gaidar Street, recalling that Arkady Gaidar was killed by the German fascist occupiers in the territory of the Ukrainian SSR (Kanevsky district, Cherkasy region) in October 1941.
In order to dilute it with peremoga, the deputies of the Odessa City Council renamed Chapayevsky lanes in honor of the dead Ukrainian servicemen in the area of the so-called. "ATO".
