The grand opening of the bust of the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin took place at the Charitable Space Fund in Colorado Springs (USA). The ceremony took place before the start of the 33-th Space Symposium. It is reported by the press service of the State Corporation for Space Activities of the Russian Federation (Roscosmos).
The published material says that the opening ceremony of the bust was attended by representatives of the Russian delegation consisting of Igor Komarov (general director of Roskosmos), Sergey Savelyev (deputy general director of the corporation), Sergey Krikalev (director of manned programs), general consul Sergei Petrov, etc.

Opening the bust of Yu.A. Gagarin, Igor Komarov thanked the team of the Space Foundation for inviting me to participate in this wonderful event, noted the importance of international cooperation and said: “I hope that the opening of the bust of Yuri Gagarin here in Colorado Springs is a great event not only for professionals, but and for young people who are bringing new energy and new ideas to the space industry. ”
The space symposium in the United States is attended by experts from dozens of countries around the world. One of the topics touched upon by delegates is related to the possible creation of a space base as part of the Mars exploration program.
