The RPK-16 light machine gun is an initiative developed by the Kalashnikov concern. This machine gun is being developed as a potential replacement for the RPK-74 Kalashnikov light machine gun, both in conventional troops and in special-purpose units.

Keeping the traditional scheme of the Kalashnikov assault rifle (gas-operated automatics with a long piston stroke, locking by turning the bolt, firing from the closed bolt), the new light machine gun absorbed the achievements obtained in the AK-12 machine program, including improved ergonomics, the ability to quickly and conveniently install any sighting systems using Picatinny type slats.

Thing! I would like to myself. But we are not in America. We are the weapon nizyaa laughing But if our security forces don’t buy this machine gun, I can argue that this machine gun, it will be very popular on the market in third countries. It’s light, killer, reliable. In a word, a good machine gun. And fairy tales about the fact that professionals know how to handle weapons that are “gentle” to dust and dirt. Let these tales tell Western citizens. In urban combat, for example, there is no dust, but weapons should be as reliable as possible. Do not move around with a condom on the trunk. laughing

Is there no dust in urban combat? I had to slurp this dust together with concrete and brick fragments, and if the ak74 holds well, then I had to suffer with the PCM. When you are covered from a tank, there is enough dust and dirt and shit.

HK121 has not yet entered the ratings and bulk purchases go only to the Bundeswehr.
despite the fact that the Americans, with obvious advantages of the German machine gun, are buying massively for the army Belgian machine guns, the new machine gun HK121 seems to break this trend.

As you can see, the top dozens are occupied by Belgian and German machine guns. US Army buys Belgian machine guns in bulk for all units, German machine guns buy for special forces.
American homies. despite the fact that leopards are better than abrams, and trackers are better than American ones trying to buy weapons in Germany as little as possible. This is dictated by political motives. but the number of small arms purchased in Germany is growing rapidly. Germany seems to overtake the Belgians. The French decided to purchase German assault rifles and the first batch of 100 units in production. an order of up to 000 is possible. The Americans seem to also be purchasing German assault rifles to replace the M-500. everything goes to this.

I’m afraid that the new RPK, in comparison with the old one, will suffer from accuracy and flat trajectory due to the shorter barrel. But it’s not at all clear why it was necessary to make a new one when you can upgrade the old one. From this you can take only a store and a butt, optics on weapons of this type the thing is very controversial, since the main task of this type of weapon is to ensure a high density of fire.

just like in a joke: "Chukchi is not a reader, Chukchi is a writer." The long barrel is 550mm, like the RPK-74, for what reason is flatness lost? I am silent about accuracy, it is necessary to check in practice.

so modernization led to the emergence of a new one. in order to make interchangeable trunks, many at least 6 main units need to be re-created ...

Are you the smartest one? And besides, the great "professor" of ballistics. Can you then explain why the TT pistol has a lower firing range than the PPSh?

I do not, the notes here, compared with some visitors to the site, definitely yes.

if you don’t know, that’s the length of the trunk, but only RPK-74 and RPK-16 (long barrel) have the same barrel length — 550 mm, and you’ll explain why there should be different flatness ???

But nothing that I wrote about the RPK-16 with a short barrel? Or do you respected other people's comments to read completely and carefully, is not necessary?

as the barrel length increases, the bullet speed increases (when using the same cartridge) in the PPSh, the barrel is almost 2 times longer than in the TT. And then think about how the initial speed of the bullet affects the flatness.

                The TT has an initial bullet speed of 430 m / s. At PPSh 490 m / s. hi

So what? Especially for you I repeat why the PKK needs a short barrel, if there is a regular AK for this.

only in one case, battles in buildings, the distance is small, and with a long barrel it does not always unfold.

For RPK-16, it would be better to develop a single barrel with a length of 440-470 mm. A barrel of 370 mm would be perfect for the AK-12. But this is the business of customers. And so it is quite an interesting machine, maybe they will be accepted in the army. But only with an assault rifle / automatic carbine. For unification.

optics on weapons of this type is a very controversial thing

So this is modernization. For those who haven't figured it out yet, a short barrel is an added option. And optics - this is the main thing that is lacking in domestic weapons. The bourgeois can see us for a kilometer or more, and we are as much as our eyes allow.
