Thailand buys Chinese VN1 BTR

18
Thailand continues to purchase Chinese armored vehicles, militaryhistorical portal "Wapspot" with reference to defense-blog.com. The Ministry of Defense of Thailand has signed a contract for the supply of 34-x armored personnel carrier VN1 and more than twelve thousand 30-mm shells for them.
According to the contract, the supply of armored vehicles and ammunition should be completed by 2020. The cost of one armored personnel carrier is estimated at $ 1,695 million. Most likely, new combat vehicles will go into service with the armored battalion, for which Thailand ordered Chinese last year. Tanks VT4.
The VN1 armored personnel carriers that Thailand buys will have turrets armed with 30-mm automatic cannons. The thaiarmedforce.com portal calls VN1 combat vehicles analogous to the Ukrainian armored personnel carriers BTR-3E1, which are purchased for the ground units of the Thai army (according to 2015, Thailand was supplied 180 units). Since part of the Ukrainian armored personnel carriers from the supply planned for the 2014 year, was transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Thailand could change the supplier of armored vehicles for its army or buy the missing number of combat vehicles.

The 8 × 8 VN1 fighting vehicles were developed by NORINCO Corporation in 2006 year and since 2009 have been in service with the Chinese army under the symbol ZBL-09. The body of the vehicle has protection against medium-sized bullets, and frontal armor protects it against 12,7-mm armor-piercing bullets. On the highway, the VN1 reaches a speed of up to 100 km / h (the power reserve is 800 km) and is capable of forcing water obstacles afloat at a speed of up to 8 km / h.

It seems to me that if the Ukrainians still fulfill the order, they are unlikely to be new.

Unless dumping ... But it is difficult to beat the Chinese in this, just like the Americans with their used M113.
They screwed up everything for themselves ... If they hadn’t been on temporary jobs, and if the production received from military exports was at least minimally developed, they could have occupied the niche that the Chinese are now tearing at. Cheap and relatively modern armored personnel carrier.
And now it's too late. And the reputation is below the plinth, and time is up. The Chinese will not give up.

About 15–20 years ago, many would never have believed that China would supply such a massive supply of a wide range of weapons: ships, armored vehicles, air defense systems, soon the aircraft would catch up, submarines, drones.
Its exports grew by 88% from 2006 to 2015.
Another 10 years and a new world leader in arms sales will appear. They learn fast and work well, that’s the key to success.

Now, in war, check it all out.

In Yemen, I wonder what kind of samples were checked.

I think the Chinese VN1 in quality and performance characteristics will be better than the Ukrainian BTR-3E1 (at least by the fact that the Soviet-built BTR-70 / 80 are new and not redone).

Shells take something a little, 350 pcs. on the trunk, it's about nothing.

Enough to fight off the enemy’s DRG. This is a classic armored personnel carrier.

Suppression of coups as an option. To buy shells is not a problem.

And most importantly, there is no need to go far for spare parts. Well done! And why do they need weapons, against whom will it be directed? Maybe they want to unite with China before the wars have passed to expand China?
