The name of Richard Sorge will be called one of the islands of the Kuril ridge.

The Russian Geographical Society continues the campaign to assign names to the nameless islands of the Kuril ridge. Recall that earlier names were 4 of such islands. One of the islands was named in honor of General Kuzma Derevyanko, who signed the act of Japan’s surrender in 1945 from the USSR. Now the RGO specialists suggest assigning the name of the Soviet intelligence officer Richard Sorge to one of the Kuril Islands, who, as you know, was an employee of the German Embassy in Japan.

Information Agency TASS conveys the message of State Duma deputy Georgy Karlov, who spoke out on this subject:

The proposals for the nomination of the nameless islands of the Kuril ridge at a meeting with the deputy were voiced by the head of the Sakhalin branch of the Russian Geographical Society Sergey Ponomarev. Scientists examined more than a dozen of the islands of the Small Kuril Ridge. For some of them names are chosen. For example, one of the nameless islands is proposed to name the name of the hero of the Soviet Union, the outstanding intelligence officer Richard Sorge, who worked in Japan since 1933 and executed in Sugamo's Tokyo prison in 1944.

The name of Richard Sorge will be called one of the islands of the Kuril ridge.

The naming convention is carried out within the framework of the “Russian Islands” project. The project itself was launched in 2010 year. As a result of painstaking work, information on the Kuril ridge was systematized. The 77 islands of the archipelago are entered in the registry.

I think this is not done for trolling. They simply decided on the position of a peace treaty with Japan, and the Kuril Islands topic is not included in this treaty. This fact is recorded by the names of the islands. Well, like: "That's it, the topic is closed completely."

Are they sick on the head? Call the disputed island by the name of a scout who was killed for what he was doing? Why tease and anger the Japanese? Which brain disabled person needs it? Or maybe we’ll put a monument in the Kuril Islands to the best Japanese killers near Halkingol and in Manchuria, and will we give fireworks every day in their honor? Once already teased - the Russian-Japanese war began precisely in this scenario. Just trampled in the mud feelings of the Japanese. What ended, I hope, at least some people know.

The more I live in Russia, the more I notice sick people who are poisoning the life of the country with their crazy ideas - from the police to the capture of India. One could call the island marginal or the island of hope or the island of the east or any of the historical figures NEUTRAL to Japan - there are a million normal, apolitical names, but no, instead they offer a frankly provocative version. I respect Sorge and do not mind having my street named in his honor, but not as an island that is close to the border of Japan and is the subject of her claims.
The person who proposed this name to the island needs to be judged by the articles of inciting hatred, treason to the heap by a number of similar ones, so that after 200 years he just leaves and has time to realize what he is doing.

Imagine the Finns at the border will put a dead Russian 50 meters high at the customs in honor of the 40 year war. Why engage in idiocy?
what they are trying to do with the island is mockery of the name of Sorge, and not reading his memory

This comment reminds me of Saltykov-Shchedrin's fairy tale “The Wise Piskar”, which says that there was a piskar who lived in the world, who was afraid of everything, but considered himself wise. Sorry, but you remind the protagonist of this tale.

I do not care who I remind. There is a story. There are examples from the story. Repeat stupid mistakes why? Why intimidate or frighten neighbors when you can not do this?
Under Trotsky, Russia intimidated the whole world with the international. We are still raking!

it is possible, only then do not cry when you become a loser. historical examples are. In the Russian Federation, 125 million lives in the best case. The Japanese have no less. Or are we short of enemies and need to be added? almost one billion Anglo-Saxon worlds are already writing into our enemies. So come on ahead with your show-offs, just don’t be surprised if your own people put you on the wall for this, because when 10 times more people are hurting you, it’s unpleasant.

the Japanese have their own opinion on this. The Yankees occupied Japan and do quite a lot of bad things, but at least they don’t scoff so openly and therefore can continue to do what they want.
And you, pontorez, are mocking, but you can’t do anything from what you need.
Well rename the island. fine. The Japanese will be angry and, for example, will clean up the entire Sea of Japan from fish and crab by poachers. Does that suit anyone? And if you start the competition who will do more harm to someone, you are guaranteed to lose, because the Japanese have much more opportunities to do harm. And most importantly - do we have nothing more to do ???
Isn’t it better to butt off the Norwegians for the fact that the Bear is so confidently merging in the Barents Sea
