In Astana, representatives of Damascus and Jaysh al-Islam first sat down at the negotiating table

19
Negotiations between the official authorities of Syria and representatives of the so-called “moderate opposition” started in the capital of Kazakhstan. Negotiations are held through the mediation of Russia, Iran and Turkey. During the short opening ceremony of the talks, the permanent representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the UN Bashar Jafari, the representative of the Jaish al-Islam group Mohammed Allyush and members of the delegations of the mediating parties attended. The Jaish al-Islam grouping in Syria is one of the most numerous, opposing official Damascus in the so-called. "Moderate opposition".

The very fact that representatives of the official Damascus and opposition forces were at the round table in Astana can be considered a complete breakthrough. Indeed, up to this point never (including numerous meetings in Geneva) nothing of the kind has happened.

No political statements were made during the opening of the negotiation process. The delegations heard the welcoming speech of the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, who expressed hope for a successful dialogue between the Syrian authorities and the opposition.

It is reported that a total of 15 representatives of various movements and groups represent the opposition side. In order to cover the process, 400 journalists from various media outlets gathered in Astana. Inside the hall for negotiations, the press is not allowed. The journalists are located in the Kazmedia center.

Earlier it was reported that the American side will not send its delegation to participate in the negotiations. Today it became known that the United States will still be represented - at the level of the United States Ambassador to Kazakhstan, George Krol.

I hope that they were reliably protected from each other, so that flying drool and boots would not interfere with the "peaceful and calm" course of negotiations ...

The first step is the most difficult and it takes a lot of time for the dialogue to begin bit by bit.

This is the business of diplomats and our military.
You see - OUR, not American or anyone else's, but OUR.
It is already a great victory that they were brought together. It is a pity that the Turkish side could not be persuaded against the Kurds. But let's hope for development ...

Sergei, I also hope for a positive outcome of these negotiations. But it is annoying that the ambassador is present from the mattresses. This one can shit in tea by "vkazivka" ...

Jaish al Islam has recently been steeply raking both from the army and from competitors. After the death of their boss, their kingdom in eastern Ghout is rivaled by competitors. Now, the remaining groups of eastern Guta have generally united against them. CAA at the same time took Hazram and squeezed Nashabiya. So the Jaishis try to agree at least on a truce. Only at the same time, the SAA continues to flatten them under Damascus. request

understandably . that they don’t trust (even having signed something), they will continue to sharpen their knives, just letting them get enough sleep is already a lot for exhausted children. Yes, and the soldiers rest (those who are battle-worthy) -

The lack of mattresses in the negotiation process and internal squabbles in the United States in connection with the election of Trump, suggests such an opportunity.

Do you believe that there can be any benefit from this meeting? Personally, I doubt it, and very much. They will talk and possibly sit until the end. Then they will be scattered and again for their own.
