In Kharkov, they refused to rename the Heroes of Stalingrad Avenue
The city administration decided that at the moment renaming should be abandoned. At the same time, the following reasons for refusing renaming were proposed on the department's website:
The battle of Stalingrad is, in fact, a proper name for an outstanding historical event. The liberation of Kharkov was a logical continuation of the events of the Battle of Stalingrad. In August 1943, the city was finally liberated during the Kharkov-Belgorod offensive operation by the actions of the 69-th army of the Voronezh Front, the 57-th Army of the South-Western Front and the 7-th Guards Army of the Steppe Front.
It is worth noting that 4 from 10 divisions (84-Kharkov Infantry Division named Tula proletariat, 299-Kharkov Infantry Division, 116-Kharkov Infantry Division, 15-Guards Kharkov Infantry Division) who participated in the liberation of Kharkov and which was given the name "Kharkov", before that took direct part in the Battle of Stalingrad.

Considering the above, there are no grounds for renaming Heroiv Stalingrad Avenue in the city of Kharkov.
It should be added that the decisions of Gennady Kernes are constantly criticized by Kiev, however, Kernes continues to be the mayor of one of the largest cities in Ukraine.
