Venezuelan Parliament "removed" President Maduro from office
The statement about the removal of the president of Venezuela from his duties indirectly hints that this kind of idea was thrown to parliamentarians by those who are not aware of Venezuelan legislation at all. The fact is that the parliament has no opportunity to suspend the president and declare impeachment to him. The law of the country spelled out the procedure for the possible removal from office of the head of state. But on the basis of this procedure, a nationwide referendum must be held, and consisting of three stages.
It should be noted that the Venezuelan parliament currently has an opposition majority, which is trying with all its might (even unconstitutional) to remove Nicolas Maduro from his post.
The Supreme Court of Venezuela recognized the decision of parliamentarians as legally null and void, stating that parliamentarians do not have the authority to remove the president from power without a plebiscite. The Venezuelan Parliament has the right to monitor the activities of the executive and to announce violations of the law. What kind of "violations of the law" Nicolas Maduro were identified by the opposition, the latter so plainly and did not report.
Recall that in Venezuela, an economic crisis erupted. Inflation beats records, not enough food. The main reason is the fall in oil prices, and Venezuela is one of the largest exporters of this raw material.
On the eve, President Maduro ordered a substantial increase in pensions and wages in the country due to the need to respond to inflationary growth in recent months. The opposition in the country called on the people to take to the streets to participate in mass protests against the policy of Maduro. Venezuelan political scientists believe that such opposition activities are associated with the activation of external forces, which benefit from a change of power in the country.
