“The Su-24M and MiG-31BM crews conducted refueling maneuvers over the Urals. Flying tankers of the Il-78 Russian Aerospace Forces several times increased their time in the air and the range of fighter-interceptors and front-line bombers. Refueling was carried out in horizontal flight and in turn both alone and in pairs, when the tanker provided two aircraft at the same time, ”the release said.
It is noted that more than 20 aircraft participated in the maneuvers.
“Air refueling is one of the most difficult types of flight training. Pilots at an altitude of about 5 thousands of meters at a speed of 550 kilometers per hour should approach the tanker at a distance of 10-15 meters, released by a bar to make contact with the cone sensor and maintain a distance until the kerosene is fully pumped. On the ground, flights were provided by more than 300 people, ”the press service said.
