In 2018, the new "Phobos-Soil" can be launched to Mars

If this project is implemented, Russia will be able to reach a leading position in the field of space exploration.
Russia needs to continue research of Phobos - the satellite of Mars. This was stated by Lev Green, the head of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. According to Green, the Phobos-Grunt apparatus to Mars could be launched in the 2018 year. In turn, Alexander Zheleznyakov, an academician of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics, believes that these studies are priorities for Russia, since no country is engaged in such developments.
The backlog that was made under the Phobos program should not disappear, but research in this direction should continue. At what time, in what form, is the second question, whether it will happen in 2018 or a little later, but this, of course, is a very interesting topic, especially considering that other countries do not have such programs. Russia, having implemented this project, will be able to once again take a leading position in the field of interplanetary research.
Recall the interplanetary space station Phobos-Grunt, which launched 9 in November from Baikonur to Mars, could not reach the calculated trajectory due to the failure of the automation.
