The problems associated with violence against the Serbs in Kosovo, should be addressed, and "not to hide under the carpet," reports RT Statement by Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vladimir Safronkov at a Security Council meeting.
“We are forced to note that the situation in Kosovo remains extremely unstable. New cases of violence against the Serbian population are recorded. In order to solve them, you should not hide them under the carpet, but talk about the problems directly, "
Safronkov said.
The diplomat pointed to the incident with the attack of nationalists on the Serbian pilgrims in August of this year, which was mentioned in the UN report.
“The heightening of hatred towards minorities shows the continuing threats, including the physical security of the Kosovo Serbs,” he said.
“But where are the promised security and prosperity that we were told about when we were designing a unilateral declaration of independence for Kosovo?” Unfortunately, there is no answer to this question, ”Safronkov stated.
The channel reminds that earlier the head of the British Ministry of Defense Michael Fallon said that the British military "will strengthen the International Security Forces in Kosovo (KFOR) under the leadership of NATO."
