What is modernization? In general, the situation in our tank building is not very clear to me. It is clear that the T 72 is a very good tank with a lot of modernization potential. But apart from it there are also T 80 and T 90. And "Armata" in the end. Something is not heard about the release of new models - the T 72 is being modernized more and more. How much is it possible? After all, if I do not modernize the "constipation" it will not become a Volkswagen. Maybe you need to focus on the release of new equipment, and modernize the old, but on a leftover principle. Otherwise, our tankers will be riding the T 2050 at such a rate until 72. You can't make 1000 Armata right away. God grant 100 per year. Maybe I'm wrong. Explain what is the current policy of the military-industrial complex for tank building.

Of course not right, until 1974. there were T-34-85 there, and this is not because we did not have the equipment, the main task in Sakhalin was the occupation of PDO (against the airborne defense). and the fight against amphibious assault. There is nowhere to maneuver especially, so the main weapon.

Officially, the T-34-85 was withdrawn from service in the Russian Federation in 1993. In the Russian army in significant quantities on BHVT (base storage of weapons and equipment) remained until 2005.

Yes, I'm not talking about Sakhalin, but in general. You might think that in the western military district all the tankers we drive exclusively on the T 90 and Armata. In the same way, at T 72. And with the same logic as yours, you can also fight on carts - they were not officially removed from service at all.
    Total T 72: Russian Ground Forces - 8900 units, of which 1300 T-72B and T-72BA, more than 1000 T-72B3, and 7000 T-72, T-72A and T-72B in storage, as of 2016 + The coastal forces of the Russian Navy are 50 T-72B and 200 T-72B3, as of 2016.
Total T 90: 350 T-90 / T-90A in combat units (and another 200 units are in storage), as of 2016
    Total T 80: 450 T-80BV and T-80U, (3000 T-80B, T-80BV, T-80U in storage), as of 2016
Oh yes! I forgot about the whole 10 Armat.
