The NATO E-3 aircraft with AWACS early warning system landed on Tuesday at Ämari Air Base in Estonia, reports RIA News message of the Estonian military department.
“AWACS aircraft fly regularly in NATO airspace in the Baltic Sea region, which is part of a larger program launched by NATO in 2014 year in response to changing security conditions in Europe”, - it is spoken in the message of the commander of the Air Forces of Estonia colonel Jaak Tarien.
He noted that the E-3 aircraft "make scheduled flights with the support of ground defense services of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, which is a guarantee of the independence of the airspace of the Baltic countries". The permanent base of this aircraft is an air base in the German Geilenkirchen.
Most often, the E-3 performs flights at an altitude of 10 thousand meters using Doppler radars, traversing aircraft in a radius of up to 400 km.
A total of 16 based E-3 reconnaissance aircraft are based in Geilenkirchen.
