Media: Russian BTR-80 / 82 and the Vystrel armored vehicles used by the Syrian army have confirmed their high quality

The Syrian government army continues to successfully use the Russian-made BTR-80 / 82 and the “Shot” armored cars, and no casualties were reported, writes Messenger of Mordovia.

“When this technique first appeared on the Web, some skeptical military experts predicted that it would soon be lost — too many anti-tank weapons among terrorists,” the article’s author, Roman Katkov, notes.

However, according to his information, the BTR-80 has been used in the SAR for the third year, and the BTR-82 and the BA “Shot” have been in operation for about a year, and so far there has been no information about their losses.

Media: Russian BTR-80 / 82 and the Vystrel armored vehicles used by the Syrian army have confirmed their high quality

“According to the data we have, the Syrians, who previously used the old Soviet BTR-60, the Czechoslovak OT-64 and the BRDM-2, highly appreciate the fighting qualities of Russian light armored vehicles. The cars received from Russia differ in unpretentiousness in operation, it is easy to learn, simple and reliable. The BTR-82 has a high for its class firepower of the 30-mm cannon, which is capable of striking the enemy's manpower at a distance of 4 km, and enemy BMP and BTR - up to 2 km, ”the author writes.

There is only one censure: there are very few such vehicles in the troops - if the BTR-80 in Syria is more than 3-x dozen, then the “Shots” are substantially less, he concludes.

Living landfills are very valuable, there would be other cars in limited batches, it would be the case.

      Live landfills are very valuable

Not in this case. The technique is not new, but tested, the only question is its proper use, and the Syrians have enough experience for this.

Bears, wolves, how many federals are already producing ... no less proven cars than the same "shot". The shot was generally not created for the infantry, as far as I remember, if not - correct me. There is a lot of sense in this - just check how the car behaves during intensive use.

The shot was generally not made for the infantry, as far as I remember,

For border guards, but with options so that someone else could vparit it, which was done. Such vehicles are in the Strategic Missile Forces and the Armed Forces, and are used for their intended purpose - patrolling and reconnaissance.
They tried to sell them to Kazakhstan but during the trial operation a lot of defects were revealed and this did not grow together, after that the device was subjected to hard napping, so that it can be considered brought to mind.
Here "Wolves" with "Bears" would be worth driving in Syria.

That’s what I’m writing about, they would have sent for a long time. These are far from prototypes and there are no new products there ever, The usual Mrapovskaya layout, at domestic bases. And then all Jedi do the videos. So many samples divorced that my eyes run wide. I really like the wolf, I would see how it is rolled around.

experience may be enough, they lack intelligence.
everyone already knows how the Syrians are fighting. there are only guards sensible fighters, the rest are just rabble with machine guns.

It's not bad that the "rabble with machine guns" has been fighting for the fifth year. Or do you think that only the guard fought with them all this time?

That's okay. Personally, I did not doubt the reliability and combat capabilities of our equipment.

But to the Saudis, even if the number on the head is comical - nothing more complicated than a camel can be trusted.
They themselves, equipment and weapons for themselves more often select according to the principle of "patamushta beautiful", and then the bridges of fashionable Georgian armored cars fall off.

The UAE buys our equipment - as a result, in Yemen, their losses are much lower. Yes, and the UAE Armed Forces acted competently and there were no cases of panic (one of the examples of which is the mediocre actions of the driver of the "nurse") (at least it did not get into the media).

And whoever doubted that Liberasti didn’t count. All this equipment, pre-production games, were rolled around the USSR in the deserts of Libya and Egypt. The technology created on their basis should not be worse by definition. Guano can make, and not vice versa.

Only 1 (one) T-90 is lost - captured.
An armored personnel carrier and armored cars are not a tank (this is not a vehicle for the front line). Their task is transportation of military vehicles, convoy escort, reconnaissance, infantry fire support.

BTR-82 is a development of the BTR-80A, which was run in about 15 years ago.
BMP-97 "Shot" passed the Second Chechen, limited use in the Five-day, individual armored vehicles were spotted in the Donbas in the ranks of the DPR Armed Forces (according to lostarmor, one BM was lost). The reconnaissance version is used in small quantities and is in service with the RF Armed Forces. In general, judging by open sources, "Shot" has many disadvantages, incl. low ergonomics.

This is where BM "Baikal" should be tested. Judging by the clips from those places, the C-60 works there at full height. A self-propelled version would be quite out of place.

BTR-80 and its derivatives were good for the 80s. If I have no questions about mobility and firepower, then there are big complaints about the protection and convenience of the landing. Ballistic and anti-mine protection of the machine, let’s say frankly no, landing during landing is exposed to enemy fire (the hatch is not a serious protection even from medium-caliber bullets) and can fall under the wheels. The Syrians will be happy with these machines, but we need atoms and boomerangs in the army.

I agree completely. The BTR-82 has too little mass for such a powerful gun. I don’t see any reason to put the old S-60 anti-aircraft gun on armored vehicles. Why not develop a new 45-57 mm caliber gun for a telescopic projectile with controlled detonation? New technologies in the field of materials and propellant charges would reduce the mass of the projectile and significantly increase its armor penetration.

Module "Baikal" with AU-220 57mm .. The barrel was originally developed for the Navy. But then they decided that the caliber was too small and the development was not accepted. Then it was converted into a land version. 120 rounds per minute, up to 12 km. in range - ATGM and heavy. a machine gun. do not get it.
It seems to me that the infantry would not refuse such a trunk - it can also work through the air. Ammunition under it all sorts of different. And the modules can be mounted on BPM and BTR-80.
In Syria, you could run in. Any house can be folded with such a gun. hi

In the West, active work is underway to create telescopic ammunition with a caliber of 40-45 mm, which significantly reduces their weight and size. Old 57 mm shells were created using the technology of the 40s. Below are samples of western 40 mm shells of various types

I think that it is necessary to put the 57th on Barberry, even if for the time being the one that is, and not 30 mm 2A42 are mounted. The car is quite heavy, on a wide tracked base. Everyone is broadcasting about some kind of unification, but as you look - one cheap, undercover fight.

A-220U "Baikal" is not "old Soviet" for you. The module allows you to fire projectiles, incl. and with remote blasting. And armor penetration ensures the defeat of all infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers, not to mention manpower.

A modern armored personnel carrier should provide all-round machine gun protection against fire from small-caliber machine guns, and have a high degree of protection against IEDs. For this, you can sacrifice the ability to swim without preparation. A weight of 13 tons does not provide reserves to increase the protection of the machine.

What does it mean - endured? Have you watched the video? There was a clear breaking through of the tower. The commander and gunner are seriously injured. A mechanic brought a tank out of fire.

Withstood it means withstood - only two out of four crew members were injured and there was no explosion or fire of the tank.
The result of the confrontation between the old T-55 and the fairly new TOU is quite acceptable.
Now I want to ask you, as a major military expert, this Merkava, after an attack by the valiant Hezbollah fighters, how did he withstand the hit or not? lol

He withstood - it means NO penetration. Undermining the BC and / or fire are the consequences of breaking through. The death / wound of the crew - indicates a successful defeat of the armored car. Here the T-90 and T-72 (with DZ) hits withstand and continue to complete the task, and this T-55 was supposed to leave the battle, deliver the wounded physician, and then for repair.
