Pistols for bad shooters. Part of 4. Springfield Armory XD-S

28
Fourth place in the ranking of the Top-5 pistols, designed for bad shooters, according to experts of the American weapons portal gunsamerica.com, is the gun of the Springfield Armory XD-S caliber 9-mm. It is worth noting that this is the only subcompact concealed carrying pistol that fell into this symbolic rating. American experts note that despite the small size and "subtlety" of this model, the gun has a soft trigger, comfortable aiming devices, and most importantly - an ergonomic handle with a rubberized coating that prevents slipping weapons out of hand. The average retail price for this model in the United States is about 500 dollars.

Springfield Armory XD-S 9mm

The Springfield Armory XD-S pistol is available in two versions chambered for 9x19 mm Parabellum and .40 Smith & Wesson (10x22 mm). A version chambered for the .40 S&W was unveiled at the 2016 SHOT Show in Las Vegas. It also feeds ammunition from a 6-round single-row magazine or an extended 7-round version. At the same time, the experts of the portal gunsamerica.com preferred the 9-mm version of the subcompact pistol.

Model Springfield Armory XD-S is a compact pistol designed for concealed carry. It was created on the basis of the model XD (M) Compact, and therefore has a similar design. Automatic pistol works according to the use of recoil in the short course of the barrel. Locking is carried out with the help of a declining breech of the weapon’s barrel, which enters with its rectangular protrusion above the chamber, into a window designed to eject the spent cartridge case-casing sleeves. The reduction occurs when the interaction of the bottom tide of the breech breech of the weapon with the protrusion of the steel liner of the pistol frame.

The pistol casing of the forged steel with an anti-reflective matte coating was provided with a large inclined notch in the front, this was done to more easily and easily send the cartridge into the chamber when loading the pistol. The pistol grip has a large, coarse notch, which allows the shooter to steadily hold the weapon in motion and during high-speed shooting. At the same time, the Springfield Armory XD-S model fully complies with the modern requirements of modularity of the design. The shooter can easily pick up the dimensions of the pistol grip under his palm with the help of three interchangeable elements that adapt the back of the handle to the arm of the weapon holder. Disconnecting from a magazine pistol is made very easily, it can be done with both right and left hands, without changing the “grip”.

At the front bottom of the frame of the Springfield Armory XD-S pistol are the Picatinny rail guides of MIL-STD-1913 standard. Due to the availability of these slats on the gun, you can easily install a variety of types of laser sights, tactical lights, or an aiming block that unites them. Pistol magazines are made of high quality stainless steel with a large margin of safety. Holes located in the single-row magazine allow the shooter to easily track the number of cartridges in it. The surfaces of the steel parts of the gun are treated with a wear-resistant and extremely durable coating of melonite (Melonite).

The gun Springfield Armory XD-S was equipped with a trigger mechanism (USM) shock type, single action. In this mechanism, the spring of the firing pin is compressed at the moment when the shutter-casing moves forward when the cartridge is sent to the chamber. The automatic fuse trigger on this gun was made in the form of a lever that blocks the trigger until the shooter deliberately starts to squeeze it for a shot. Such a fuse is needed mainly to prevent accidental firing, for example, when a pistol is dropped on a hard surface at an angle that could cause the trigger to shift, taking into account that the course of the descent on this model is very short.

The pistol also received the automatic safety of the firing pin, which blocks its advancement until the moment when the trigger is fully completed. Automatic grip (lever) fuse blocks USM operation. You can shoot a pistol only if you cover the handle while squeezing the safety lever. At that moment, when the drummer of the pistol is in the cocked state, its rear part protrudes beyond the limits of the surface of the casing bolt. Due to this, the owner of the weapon can easily assess the state of the drummer, both visually and to the touch.

Similarly, the shooter can determine whether a weapon is loaded or not, since if there is a cartridge in the chamber, the ejector protrudes from the upper face of the casing, being a good indicator of the presence of the cartridge in the chamber. Ultimately, a shot is possible only if the owner of the weapon correctly takes the gun in his hands and squeezes the trigger. The sights of a pistol, with the possibility of amending horizontally, may be distinguished by the presence of luminous inserts or a front sight having a fiber-optic rod, which helps to significantly reduce the aiming time. At the same time, the Springfield Armory XD-S pistol is simple in design and in circulation, which is especially good for inexperienced shooters who only learn the basics of communication with short-barreled firearms.

Technical characteristics of Springfield Armory XD-S:
Caliber - 9x19 mm.
Overall length - 178 mm.
Barrel length - 102 mm.

The handle, as it is visually short, like a TT,

I do not know, the TT in my "paw" lay quite comfortably.
And here in the "compact pistol for beginners bad" shooters not only is the handle for two fingers, but also
You can shoot a pistol only if you cover the handle while squeezing the safety lever.
add - right and tight cover the grip.
Advertising is in its purest form, indicative of how an American average man, and a young man, is bred for money.
Old and so goes to the shooting range with friends to stain and clean the old Colt 1911 or generally grandparents S & W M10.
In short, yesterday I wrote everything in the comments about the 5 part (?)
And thanks for the article - the trends in weapons for one hand in the series of articles are described correctly.
Development got up - glamor triumphs. Exceptionally my opinion, I can be very wrong.
Article plus, colleagues hello and respect ..

      C is a subcompact.

The subcompact is suitable for the "office use" category. Police weapons. For official use, you do not need a capacious store. By the way, PM is a subcompact.

The subcompact does not need special sights. The simplest are enough. On this model, these are purely marketing requirements. It would be correct to make a dovetail groove. Sights don't make the pistol smooth. And for subcompact it is a priority.

In general, what would Springfield not do, but it turns out 1911.

I have said and will continue to say that all these drums, and even with the fuses, the devil knows where - complete nonsense. IMHO of course.

I agree, you can easily google the cases of shooting in the limbs by the police from the Glocks. A beginner's gun should be like this:

The author was worth mentioning that the gun itself was developed in Croatia by the HS2000 model
And in the USA, it is manufactured and sold by the exclusive importer of Springfield Armory under the brand name XD

They try to reduce the handle of the subcompact. Although this gun is too large bolt group. This old PM will give odds to the gun. PM is also a subcompact.

Yes, yes, it’s a subcompact for hidden wearing or the 2nd barrel .. what’s the bad shooter here? The weapon series is so-so .. they just picked up the more popular (USA) trunks and they pass it off as supposedly news ...

Weapons do not stand out in anything. PM will be much better as a subcompact. Of course, the PM descent is longer and harder, which is safer. In fact, when aiming, such a subcompact is held with two hands. Moreover, the second hand directs the weapon, and the main hand pulls the trigger. Therefore, it is good and enough to have an army descent in a couple kg, than soft and short. God forbid you will pull out of the holster in a hurry, you can shoot something yourself.

When will our PL-14 go into production? Foreigners produce dozens of models of pistols and revolvers, and we still have not launched their competitors into the series. Yarygin's pistol did not live up to expectations, the Strizh was hacked to death during trials, the GSh-18 requires improvements and the quality of finishing, the SPS shoots with a non-standard 9x21 mm cartridge. Makarov was good for his time, but today we need a 21st century pistol.

The US has a civilian weapons market. Therefore, the presence of a huge number of pistol models. ... We must not forget the collectors who buy weapons on the "what would have been" principle. In Russia, the manufacturer has a limited market. The only customer is the state. The state has very specific requirements that run counter to diversity.

In Germany, short-barreled for ordinary citizens is also limited, which does not prevent them from producing excellent pistols. The only modern pistols in Russia can be considered only PL-14 and the Russian-Italian "Strizh". Everything else is suitable only for law enforcement agencies due to insufficient attention of developers to the ergonomics of weapons and the quality of their finishing. Weapons should be not only effective and convenient, but also beautiful. All by analogy with airplanes - a beautiful airplane flies well.

Oh Gods! Well, why it was impossible to lay out the whole five at once? Why is it squeezing, per hour, on a teaspoon?
On the gun. As a second one or for constantly hidden wearing, he is probably not bad. But for a bad (beginner) shooter? Somehow far-fetched. All the same, the 9-ki has a normal return, the .40 S&W has another 20 percent higher, and then there’s a nice stub that’s normal and will not fall into the hand. No, some nonsense.

Foreigners produce dozens of models of pistols and revolvers, and we still have not launched a series of their competitors.
Foreigners have a civilian weapons market, hence the demand for these dozens, hundreds of models and modifications. And we have only a state order that does not care about new systems, which is only interested in cutting and rolling back. The market is very difficult to deceive by restrictions, prohibitions, regulations and other tricks of the power holders.
Did our "minds" play with the production of cars? Or with computer technology? Or with mechanical engineering? So we finished playing - we have what we have, or rather we don’t have (((

How long will we live in Mother Russia without pistols of the 21st century? Yes, just everything. THERE IS NO MARKET OF SHORT-BREED TURNOVER. Those who are entitled will receive it and their opinion will not be taken into account. To whom in the service it is not only supposed to wear it in a holster will be supplied with Glocks and the long-running Stechkins, Yarygin was given, but he did not justify his hopes, and civil (official) versions on the theme of "Magarens" do not count. Other variations on the short-barreled theme, like the versions of pneumatics sawn from TT and Makarov, and rubber arrows "don't affect the speed". It is not interesting for the manufacturer to invest in this because the exhaust is "zero". Uryalkam like "give everyone a gun from baby to grandmother" I would like to remind you about how in Russia out of the blue "batch" begins .... Remember? Have you presented? Now imagine equipping the participants. Have you presented? All..? There are many questions and they are not entirely in the plane of business only. The question is deeper. And while it remains unsolved, nothing will budge. The bulk of my compatriots will have to look at the local "nyashki".

Let's go further. Yesterday, for example, I got into a conversation with my work colleague John. A strong bearded man under 60 years old. He turned out to be no less sick in the head as a shooter than I, and word for word, went to his Shevik to look at the Colt worn by the years 1911. He asked, "What do you do with it?" He said that for self-defense he carries and never pulls him out of the car, he "lives" there. I say, have you ever attacked? He says no have never been attacked. Then why are you carrying? Yes, the devil only says, just in case. Such is the real life situation in a country far from Russia. This I mean, for example, in a city where, by tradition, it is customary in America to kill their presidents, crimes against the person as attacks with weapons are extremely rare. Why? Yes, because a criminal with a probability close to a hundred will run into such a smiling John, who, without hesitation, will make a hole in him, forever relieving him of the desire to attack people. The so-called "free" arms trade in the United States is not so "free". You can buy any weapon (legal for circulation) if you are not in the database of the federal bank of the police department. If you ponder more deeply into the very essence of arms trafficking, then personally it seems to me that this is a kind of instrument of the state to cleanse society of marginal elements “on the ground”. This is the most selective "sanitation". The marginal will definitely get to the weapon, and sooner or later he will start waving them in front of the chewed face of an 80-year-old granny, or decides to rob McDonald's in the neighborhood, for which he will certainly and gladly be shot by the police pumping their "skills". And that's it, there is no more that scumbag. This system works, and there is no need to say "and they have massive executions there." For 360 million people, this does not affect "speed" at all. Summing up my reasoning a little I will say this. Yes, American freedom is great ... Even if someone really wants to do bad deeds and be bad and bad, the state gives him such a right. True, while simultaneously writing out a passing ticket to the next world. In Russia, "this is not accepted." Therefore, the very system of arms turnover according to the American model is impossible. Therefore, even that abundance of shooting metal on store shelves is impossible.

      I absolutely support.

I also know the story of one guy who, for 10 years, wore a compact disc. And when he once found a thief trying to open his car, he simply shouted as he ran away. And only after 2 hours he remembered that he had a gun.

This only indicates the need for such compacts. Actually, the decision of the gun is necessary for stubborn lovers.

... yes, for self-defense it is necessary in Russia first to remove the norm "on the limits of necessary defense." Then the short-barreled trunk can be started up according to a serious procedure ...

Buy yourself an airsoft version of the gun. They are full of taste and color in Russia. Put on camouflage and go shoot at the same fans somewhere for airsoft.

And then the criminal will stick the pugach in the z.o.p. to the fan of airsoft. There is always a risk of running into an enemy armed with military weapons and gluing fins. Therefore, I am for the legalization of short-barreled firearms for law-abiding citizens. In France, a chock filled up a hundred people with a truck, but for some reason we are afraid of armed citizens.

There is a risk of getting under the car. There is a risk of falling out of bed and dying.

If I lived in modern Chicago. I would carry a gun despite the prohibitions.

Well, while the risks are not big, then I go to airsoft, so as not to lose skills.

My life is calm and balanced. Where criminals go I don’t go. I try not to teach life criminals, and they do not know about my presence.

Of course, if a week-long shopping of products is associated with a risk to life, then you have to self-organize into street gangs for serious survival.

I don’t think that in Russia the question is worth it.
