Lukashevich: OSCE observers based in Ukraine will not be granted access to the Crimea
Earlier, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry demanded that the OSCE SMM be allowed into Crimea “for an objective assessment of the situation,” after the FSB announced the suppression of the activities of the Ukrainian sabotage group.
According to him, "the mission is not rushing to Crimea, realizing that everything is limited by the current territory of Ukraine, on which it operates, so there is not even a question."
This issue will not be discussed in the OSCE either. “No, absolutely. The mission understands that it has no right to work in Crimea, and we always state this clearly. The mission does not seek to work in Crimea, realizing that there will be no consensus on this matter, ”the diplomat said.
“When extending the mandate, we always make an interpretive statement to it, indicating that the Special Monitoring Mission operates on the territory of Ukraine, but not in Crimea, which is part of the Russian Federation. We record this everywhere, ”he stressed.
