Ukraine and NATO are planning to agree on cooperation in the field of strategic transportation without the participation of Russia, reports RIA News statement of the Ukrainian representative at the alliance of Egor Bozhka.
According to the diplomat, the Kiev authorities “decided to withdraw from the trilateral cooperation program and agree with NATO on the use of strategic Ukrainian aviation without the participation of Russia. ”
“Until now, there was a project where Ukraine provided NATO member countries with services in the field of strategic flights with Russia. The leadership of our state decided to abandon cooperation with Russia in this area. We are now negotiating a new Ukraine-NATO project ",
explained the god.
He noted that the Ukrainian side "proposed an An-124 Ruslan aircraft to strengthen NATO’s defense capability."
The diplomat also added that "the NATO comprehensive assistance package for Kiev, (its approval is expected at the alliance's Warsaw summit) will include 40 new areas of cooperation." In particular, "we are talking about the reorientation of the Ukrainian defense industry to NATO standards," he said.
