Easier, stronger and more economical
Today, the MiG corporation is creating new aircraft of the unified MiG-29K / KUB family, MiG-29М / М2, as well as a promising fighter of the 4 ++ generation MiG-35. All of them are designed as a new platform, which has a good potential for increasing combat capabilities based on the use of technologies inherent in aircraft of the fifth generation.
Externally, the new fighters are similar to the usual MiG-29, but they are completely new aircraft with major changes in the design of the fuselage, on-board equipment and materials used in the production. About 15% of the entire fuselage surface are composites, which are five times lighter than steel and much stronger.
The use of composites has significantly reduced the weight of new machines. These savings went on increasing the combat load and fuel reserves. While the classic MiG-29 could carry 2,5 t suspensions, the ship’s already 4,5, and the MiG-35 more than 6 t. The internal tanks of the new MiGs hold almost one and a half times more fuel.
In addition, the aircraft received an in-flight refueling system, which, in conjunction with the new air-to-ground missiles, will make it possible to accomplish tasks previously only available to bombers.

On the MiG-29K fully implemented the principle of "glass cabin", all digital devices. The display is displayed on color liquid crystal displays. The usual steering system has been replaced by an electronic system: in the west it is called fly-by-wire (TASS).

The on-board radio-electronic equipment of the serial version of the fighter includes the Zhuk-ME radar station (it provides tracking of air targets to 10, simultaneous firing of four of them with missiles), the Uzel additional navigation system, the Karat automatic control and recording complex.
The aircraft are installed on-board video registration system, autonomous power generation system for ground checks of equipment without starting the main engines.
The RD-33MK engines are an improved version of the RD-33, which were installed on the classic MiG-29. Thanks to the refinement of the motors, their power increased by 8%, the modern digital control system FADEC was introduced.
On the basis of the MiG-29K / KUB, airfield-based fighter jets were created and mass-produced: the single MiG-29М and the double MiG-29М2. In 2012, in celebration of the 100 anniversary of the Russian Air Force, the MiG-29М2 was demonstrated in a joint flight with the fifth-generation fighter PAK FA (T-50).
