All about combat equipment "Warrior"

Military equipment soldier "Warrior" - one of the most ambitious projects of modernization of the Russian army. As applied to this program, the concept of equipment is so wide and extensive that it is almost impossible to describe all its elements in one article or to depict it in one photo.

All about combat equipment "Warrior"

Commander's personal computer is protected from shock, dust and water. It is equipped with a resistive screen, insensitive to moisture, and a stylus of blued steel. The commander can track the location of all the fighters of his unit on the satellite map, see their condition (wounded or not) and send text messages, receive photo and video images of targets and indicate new targets on the map.

For ordinary soldiers who receive the first sets of “Warrior” from the end of 2014, this is primarily a convenient form of modern fabrics with many elements for the summer, winter and demi-season periods, lightweight composite protection covering up to 90% of the body, well fit on the head lightened helmet.

For visitors to the exhibitions, “Warrior” is an image of a soldier of the future, hung with super modern computer equipment, seeing through walls and firing from around the corner with a helmet monitor.

70 elements
In total, the equipment includes more than 70 elements that are interconnected and complement each other constructively and functionally.

In order to find out what the combat equipment of a Russian soldier represents today, we conducted a series of interviews. The main elements of the “Warrior” kit were told to us by the specialists of the head developer of the OJSC “TsNIITOCHMASH” program (part of the Rostec state corporation). The soldiers of the reconnaissance company of one of the military units where they were tested shared with us their impressions of the new equipment. We discussed the electronic stuffing of the “soldier of the future” with Alexander Kaplin, General Designer of OJSC Radioavionika.

Fashion survival
A military equipment kit is a set of five systems integrated into each other: destruction, defense, control, life support, and energy supply. That is, the “Warrior” program covers practically everything a soldier needs on the battlefield: from shoes and clothes to weapons, medicines, sighting, surveillance, communications, guidance and targeting of artillery and aviation.

The design of the helmet provides for mounting accessories. The photo shows a helmet-mounted monitor produced by OJSC TsNII Tsiklon.

Observation device of the same developer, in which images from the thermal imager and night vision device are combined into one picture. These products - applicants for a place in the program "Warrior".

The thermal sight can also serve as a helmet-mounted observational device.

“We tested all sets of second-generation property, made marches to 5 and 20 km, passed the obstacle course,” says the commander of the reconnaissance platoon Ivan Velichko. The passage of obstacles in full protective uniforms for us was demonstrated by five scouts, one of them with a heavy machine gun in their hands. Smiling soldiers praise the new clothes, which always correspond to the weather, a light and comfortable helmet, goggles, and a multifunctional knife tool. Impressive shoes from the company "Faraday": breathable membrane Gore-Tex, non-slip reinforced sole Vibram, weight at the level of the best trekking boots (like summer and winter models).

Anti-splinter armor with a weight of just 1 kg ensures the same level of protection as foreign analogues weighing at least 1,3 kg. An adjustable under-head device helps to fit the helmet to the size of the head and provides additional cushioning when it hits and hits fragments.

A comfortable and fairly lightweight body armor with a built-in quick-release system is worn and removed very easily, but in order to unzip a wounded soldier, you just have to pull the check (previously you had to remove the vest over your head or cut the straps).

Bullet-proof vests from the “Warrior” kit are equipped with ceramic-composite armored panels made from a layer of ceramic tiles and a composite substrate. Ceramics has a very high hardness with a relatively small mass. The ceramic outer layer effectively destroys the bullet, and the reinforced composite substrate holds its fragments and fragments of ceramics. In standard, the armor “Warrior” weighs a little more than 7 kg, which is significantly less than the mass of its predecessor. There is also an assault assembly of a bullet-proof vest, in which the level of protection is increased to the maximum (sixth) class, bullet-proof protection of the side zones and groin area is provided. In this case, the mass of the body armor reaches 15 kg.

Armored protection
This is how a ceramic-composite armor plate looks like after hitting ten armor-piercing incendiary bullets from a SVD sniper rifle from a distance of 10 m. On the other hand, this same plate looks like new.

At the TsNIITOCHMASH enterprise in Klimovsk near Moscow, we were shown an assault breast armor panel developed by Technikom Research and Production Company LLC that withstood ten hits of armor-piercing incendiary bullets when fired from a SVD sniper rifle from a distance of 10 m. bulge. This means that a soldier protected by a bullet-proof vest with such panels will not receive contusion injuries and will remain combat-ready.

A little bit about the MFP
The MFP is worn in a breast pocket, has an alphanumeric indicator and gives access to all complex functions through the context menu system. In particular, it can be used to type text messages and use the navigator.

Special protective suits deserve attention. The Permyachka overalls made of special ballistic aramid fabric are able to protect the soldier from fragments of shells flying at a speed of up to 140 m / s with a mass of 1 g, as well as from the action of an open flame for 10 s. A set for crew members of armored vehicles "Cowboy" will help the tanker survive in case of defeat and fire tank.

The control panel has no screen and operates according to the “finger-button” principle.

There is everything you need: on / off KRUS, tangent, “wounded” button, switching between subscribers and hot key: its typical use is to send a photo from a rangefinder-angle meter to the commander.

Lord of Thunder
The control system is the part of the “Warrior” that still looks fantastic, although in reality the Strelets reconnaissance, control and communications complex (KRUS), included in the program, has been in service with the Russian army since 2007. At the moment, the second generation of the Sagittarius, produced from 2011, and constantly improving, is relevant.

According to the apt description of Alexander Kaplin, General Designer of OJSC Radioavionika, the Strelts KRUS is a personal computer with peripherals distributed over the fighter’s unloading vest. Its capabilities, like any other computer, are limited only by the tasks and imagination of the developers. The complex guarantees the resolution of all information tasks that a soldier may encounter.

Protected high-speed radio channel provides voice radio communication and data transmission. Data may include text messages (pre-defined and arbitrary), photographs and video images and, of course, geographic coordinates. The satellite navigation system practically excludes the possibility of a soldier to get lost, and for the commander - to let the soldier out of sight.

On the commander's personal computer screen, the location of all the fighters is displayed on a map of the area and updated in real time. The high refresh rate (once per second), made possible by a special high-speed radio channel, distinguishes the Strelets KRUS from analogs using standard radio stations for data transmission. In them, the update rate can reach 10 − 30 seconds, since information about all the unit fighters is transmitted via communication channels with a low or medium data rate.

The commander can instantly send a fighter to the desired point, simply by pointing it with the stylus on the map. And the fighter will receive not just the coordinates of the destination, but a difficult route. KRUS will tell the soldier the way with the help of an arrow on the screen, it will help to bypass the minefields and dangerous zones.

One of the modifications of the Sagittarius includes a rangefinder-goniometer. It is enough for the gunner to simply see the target: relying on the readings of the laser rangefinder and the angle gauge of the target, as well as its own coordinates, KRUS instantly calculates the coordinates of the target, and at the same time sends its photograph to the commander. It will only be necessary to give a command to open artillery fire or strike aviation.

Of course, the "Sagittarius" is compatible with various optical-electronic sights and helmet-mounted monitors, allowing you to shoot from behind cover. This spectacular stunt is proudly demonstrated at exhibitions by the developers of Felin and Gladius - the French and German counterparts of the “Warrior”. However, Alexander Kaplin is convinced that transmitting video information in a battle is not so important as ensuring a good balance between weight and size characteristics, security and working time without recharging while solving basic, that is, the most frequently encountered combat tasks.

A modern smartphone can barely last a day without a power outlet in standby mode. Cruise "Strelets" works 12 hours on one battery (and 24 hours on two) in the mode of continuous voice communication and data transmission. The complex operates at temperatures from minus 40 to plus 60 ° C, withstands severe shocks, immersion in water and dirt.

“A special unit of Radioavionics is engaged in training and gathering information in the troops, accompanying instruments at trainings and wherever possible,” says Alexander Yuryevich. - Practice shows that in life situations often arise that are simply impossible to predict. Therefore, the requirements of the Ministry of Defense for the protection of equipment are not at all contrived. ” Moreover, if the first knapsack models of KRUS, bristling with antennas, represented a solid headache for the fighter, the soldiers practically do not notice the load from placing a modern complex on the Ratnik's transport vest.

From the Arctic to the tropics
Kits of military equipment "Warrior" are already being transported to military units, but the program is still far from complete. Currently, the best samples of small arms, sighting devices and observation devices, including thermal imagers, night vision devices, helmet cameras and monitors, are fighting for getting into the kit. The Kalashnikov concern AK103 − 3 and AK-12 (we wrote in detail about the new generation AK in May 2012 of the year), as well as weapons with balanced automation of the development of the Degtyarev plant, claim to get into the “Warrior”. Many development companies create promising products with an eye on the third and even fourth generation of the Ratnik.

New "Kalash"
The weapons of the Kalashnikov concern (included in the Rostec state corporation) are equipped with a folding telescopic butt, adjustable for anatomical features and equipment of the fighter, Picatinny slats on the receiver cover and a forearm for fastening sights. In the photo: a thermal sight, a collimator sight, a double magnifier, a laser designator and a transparent magazine facilitating the counting of the remaining cartridges.

Dmitry Semizorov, General Director of TsNIITOCHMASH OJSC, calls its flexibility and versatility one of the main advantages of the “Warrior” equipment: “The modular design of the elements allows the staffing of various units depending on the military specialty and combat tasks. With a wealth of experience in the development of military equipment, we have created a kit that functions equally well in the extreme temperature conditions of the Arctic and in the hot tropics. ”

Basic set KRUS "Strelets"
The ridge of JSC "Radioavionika" - the development of modifications KRUS "Strelets" for different military specialties and combat missions. The kits are constantly in the unloading vest in the assembled state, and the fighter is spared from the need to assemble the system for separate missions, as well as to store the KRUS components separately.

1. Headset with active noise reduction protects the hearing of a soldier from the rumble of shots, but at the same time enhances quiet sounds

2. The control panel is located on the chest of the fighter in the open form and gives instant access to the main functions of the KRUS. The console is built on the principle of "finger-button" and is controlled by touch. There is a radio tangent switch, a “wounded” button, a button for switching subscribers, an on / off button for the KRUS, and a programmable hot key.

3. Satellite navigation system

4. The container of the primary power, it is the battery KRUS. To increase the operating time without recharging, you can simultaneously connect two or more batteries to the system. In the latest modifications of the complex, the container contains a built-in charger.

5. Hardware container contains all computer hardware "KRUS". In standard, it is located in the unloading vest on the left side of the fighter. The computer can operate at temperatures from -40 to + 60 ° C, reliably protected from water, dirt and shock

6. Cables for connecting additional devices, in particular, a rangefinder-goniometer device

7. The multifunctional console gives access to all the KRUS functions through the context menus of the alphanumeric indicator. The buttons of the console are large enough to be convenient to press with gloves

8. Individual radio module

Yes, everything needs to be improved there.
The warrior has been actively using VSK for half a year, but he has not earned any respect, the fighters are still forced to buy normal "bourgeois" equipment for their money.

The fighters are happy with this, but the veterans, experienced warriors, hold for 12 hours, and then what? Send a messenger for new batteries, and if he doesn’t have enough time to quickly get out, everything will go out and the soldiers will feel lonely. The author promised to describe the life support system, but did not write .I’m interested in a German thing, such as a sealant, you pump it into a wound, it polymerizes and there is nowhere to run away. Face protection interests. A quick look at the kit, look for the nuances yourself. Under any similar weight you need to additionally swing your legs and develop the spine, if Permanently dragging the armor, you can acquire a hernia of the spine.

Batteries have a pretty cheap price. Well, for that matter, the batteries should be scattered around the daylight, the tasks of which must be written down so that it sends old unused batteries for recycling.

Well and full of solar chargers. Those are slightly more expensive but not critical.

It is called hemostatic or hemostopic, less commonly coagulant. German I do not know, but American quikclot and celox. The latter is available in the form of a powder, a tampon in a syringe, various types of bandages, patches, napkins, bandages.

An analogue in the Russian Federation is the hemostop drug, but it, like the first generation quikclot, leaves burns. I do not know how the situation is with this now, but about two years ago it was dangerous to use.

I can imagine how every time this magnificence is hung on itself, wound, fastened, folded, wiped.

There, even in the photo on the soldier, the helmet strap is twisted.

And pouches, for automatic sights, at least 2-3. And you need to place them on the styling, so that you would not break by accident.

And if cast or diarrhea. So again, unwind, unfasten this thing.

The main advantages over the sets of past generations.

1,4 fold (from 34 kg to 24 kg) reduced the weight of the wearable equipment. In addition, the effectiveness of small arms is increased in 1,2 times. From the third to the sixth grade, the level of protection of general armored vests has been increased. The management system and communication facilities were integrated with the rest of the equipment; it is possible to perform combat missions at any time of day and under various climatic conditions.

About the matrix does not say anything. Already abandoned the French ulisse on 8 thousand apiece? In 2015, the TsNI Research Institute promised to set up its thermal imaging matrix in production.

You will be surprised that all schoolchildren have already learned to use this kit on computer games. Since these concepts came precisely from the developers of computer games. Or someone very smart provided created computer games on the concept of future weapons.

From this point of view, it’s not bad at all to connect the entire military industry with the computer game industry. And extra business income and stream education.

For example, the control of an armata tank could be tied to modern game interfaces and a joystick. And release an online game simulator. At an inexpensive commercial price. Or create add-ons for existing network game scenarios like ArmA 3.

In general, the topic deserves good attention. Since the gaming industry is training.

The virtual is still too far from reality, I think so far it is too early to such an extent.

And most importantly - they die in reality for real, without the ability to survive. When abused, we can get fighters divorced from reality, who in battle will not prove themselves properly. In addition, when creating a game as a commercial product, there will be a lot of simplifications and concessions in it, if you do not consider it as a commercially self-supporting product, we get a highly specialized complex, which can be attributed to games very conditionally.

And everything came to the game from life, but not vice versa, I think.

My opinion is that the speed of disappearance from the enemy’s field of vision is much more important than heavy defense. It's hard to understand how developers see the battlefield. Apparently, according to their idea, a soldier gets an advantage due to faster detection of the enemy and harmonious tactical understanding.

For example, I don’t understand, or rather I don’t know the peculiarities of any infrared sights, according to which detachments of soldiers were discovered, say in leus during the daytime, in hot weather and at a distance of over 200 m.

good wording: SAGITTARIUS CRUS runs for 12 hours on one battery (and 24 hours on two) in continuous voice communication and data transfer .. how much does one battery weigh and how long does it take to charge it? very curious to know ....

Correctly more than 12 hours from a single charge. There is no charge in the field, there is a charge from any source. Weight KPI-1 400 g full charge no more than 6 hours. I repeat when in combat conditions only recharging from any source.

Therefore, I will "drift" the old fashioned way, trying to determine by indirect attendant factors. The crunch of branches and a marching song. [/ Qu

That is the question. How much can you really use detection tools and what are the limitations.

Since they try to keep such information secret, that is, the negative side. This is not an opportunity to train soldiers.

    And further.

I know from experience that the life of a soldier is given residual attention. And with such newfangled things, the foreman should be in constant perplexity.

Doesn't work, it doesn't work either. How to store. How to wear. Where to serve. I would say this is the first question.

And of course, sports holidays were remembered. When you have an SKS carbine with a set of chemical protection on the marching, and in front of you the distance is 6 km.

Knights with OZK evolving cloaks ran to the finish line. Who is smarter, that wound him on the arm. Well, stockings OZK, for some reason, loved to move to the inguinal region.

What am I doing. It is difficult to dress all these causalities correctly and adjust them to your size. But practice says that they do not teach this everywhere.

I venture to note that in droves it will not be applicable at all
Personally, I think that the first level and "overwhelmingly massive" - would be a cuirass with a 4-piece skirt and a half-helmet rigidly fixed on it. Everything else - if possible

Your irony is clear. But realistically, the average soldier cannot intuitively determine how to deal with all this ammentization.

Semitic faces, as always, are irreplaceable for Russian advertising. So these shoots / shots are super profitable work. This is not a battle for you!

Means of detection and guidance of art support are very important so that: I do not cause fire on myself ...
and so that each soldier can detect and direct artillery / aircraft at their target and control its destruction.

Bronik thing is good. In Afghanistan, they plucked for his loss, I don’t know for sure, but not sickly. And in Angola, about 500 dollars. It was said that when a major retreated, he even swam across the river and did not abandon it. Perhaps it did not hurt to make it a little inflatable.

I can’t tell about chemical protection, but in my opinion the gas mask and breathing apparatus with this helmet and headset do not fit.

This is how a ceramic-composite armor plate looks like after hitting ten armor-piercing incendiary bullets from a SVD sniper rifle from a distance of 10 m. On the other hand, this same plate looks like new.

Interestingly, and the chest of a potential soldier and his guts after that also look like new?

Dear colleagues, please explain to the teapot what will happen if during the battle the device gets to the enemy. Is there any protection against reading information? After all, the marks on the location map l / s means complete and fast kirdyk for us?

Interestingly, and a day after the batteries are discharged, what should I do?
It seems to me that all good undertakings with huge costs will threaten our natural slovenliness and "conscripts." to connect tape recorders, radios, etc. Another armored vehicle will press on the shoulders and he will throw out the plates .... And then the epidemic of "thong disease" will begin again.
The system is needed, the problem of the information content of the battle and the protection of the soldier is long overdue, but ...

Not bad. Only, here are the Bertsa, designed to flaunt the French boulevards. And what if we have snow and mud knee-deep? I think high boots are necessary. But only to light and warm and waterproof. On non-slip soles. And you can also think up so that the boots can be rolled up to the level of Bertz. And when the mud is deep, to turn the shafts higher.
