On the website of RIA "News»A statement was made by Colonel Vadim Koval, representative of the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. In it, he reports that a second regiment has started combat duty, which includes the PC-24 mobile strategic missile system, known as Yars. Combat duty complex will be in the Teikov missile compound, located in the Ivanovo region. It includes a mobile command center and two missile battalions.
The first regiment, armed with the Yarsami, took up combat duty in March of this year. According to the plans of command, the transition Teykovskogo connections to the use of missile systems "Yars" should be completed in 2012 year. After that, it is planned to begin deliveries of these complexes to the Novosibirsk and Kozelsk connections. In the latter, combat duty will carry a sample of the Yars mine-based.
In the future, all units of the Strategic Missile Forces, currently equipped with Topol-M mobile complexes, should be re-equipped with Yars complexes. At the same time, the use of Topol-M samples based in mines will continue. Previously, it was reported that the PC-24 should also replace outdated samples of the PC-18 (UR-100H UTTH) and PC-20 “Voivod” (P-36М). Over time, Yarsy and the Topol-M mine should form the basis of the ground components of the Russian nuclear triad.
Developed complex "Yars" at the Moscow Institute of Heating. His missile can be equipped with four nuclear warheads equipped with an individual guidance system, the power of each of which can reach 300 kilotons. Detailed technical characteristics of the missiles were not disclosed. However, under assumptions, the range of its defeat can reach 11 thousands of kilometers.
